AbettrNut......... To all that will have the pleasure of enjoying this page I thank you for taking a moment to share your time with me. "BLACK WOMAN" BLACK WOMAN,BLACK WOMAN................................ What would I be without you? What would I do? Would I be trapped inside a chamber of loneliness and mis-understanding of one`s self,entangled in a web of total blindness and unwantedness from alien tribes and races that know not ofwho Ireally am and know not of who I am to be? Would I be forevermisguided into a path of another`s way of living,teaching,loving & pro-creating? And not thepath of myown? BlackWoman I thank you for all of the prior things that are notto be my life. I thank you for guiding me into a world that can be so harsh,mean and cold. For being my FATHER whenmy father was not. Forbeing that safe and secure blanket to cover me from all the elements of life that would do me harm. Black Woman, you show me love; uncontested &unconditional love, evenwhenat times I a BLACK MAN,do not deserve it! Black Woman where would I be if the love that you so earnestly & unselfishly posess would have never reached my being? Incarcirated in a cell of hate and anger? Or eliminated by the one element that fears a BLACK MAN`S very existance on this earth today? From all of the vibrant and earthly toned colors and shades that are the BLACK WOMAN ;Hazlenut,Almond,Pecan Tan,Butterscotch Tofee to Mello-Yello! Deep Dark Chocolate`s to the Browns that match the bark on a tree! Black Woman, Thank you for giving me my first breath,and then my seed`s first breath,you see because without YOU ........ there is no ME. So the question is where would I be orbetter yet where wouldn`t I be without you? So Black Woman my answer to that question is to give back what I have always recievedfrom you and to simply and fearlessly say I LOVE YOU BLACK WOMAN............... AbettrNut 5-11-2000.

You don`t want to be his mother, but you want someone like your father. You say all men aredogs, but you know all dogs are loyal. No one wantsapimp,but we all love the thug. Men ain`tabout nothin`,but we will drop our friends in a minute if hecalls. You don`t want to be a SEX symbol... but at the club you are GRINDIN` all around the dancefloor, all in your "club outfit". Hate the MIND games...but at a club your name is Kim when your real name is Rita. Brothas... Flaunt your jewels, clothes, timb`s... but complain about a gold digga. Want to be Big Poppa... but not be a daddy Want a woman with her head on right... but constantly searching for a HOTBODY. Complain about the WHITE man... but will date his daughter. Want a woman to STAND by your side through it all... but claim that she crowds you. Too young for a RELATIONSHIP... but ready for RELATIONS when will we stop contradicting ourselves? NOT AGAIN! ............................Did I hear someone degrading our black women?? The essence of our existance on earth has been struck another blow. Was it true that I heard that she was described as a "Nappy Headed HO"?! NAW..........this cannot be! A sister being degraded as if we were living in 1703!? This time it has it's repercussions......a small apology..huh I think not! A small joke that went very far......thought to be funny but turns out to be a everlasting scar. A two week suspension to start, a radio apperance supposedly straight from the heart. "I am sorry" spoken over and over just wouldn't do, for the cash flow from many sponsers decided Mr. Imus this time we are through. It is a seemingly wonder how much of his firing came after the loss of financing or the outrage of the thoughtless and hurtful words that spew out of his mouth? The women that were affected showed so much class and grace and expressed themselves so beautifully that no one can fathom why these comments were made...........but let me stop and think about that.......We as African Americans were truly upset over what this "White man " said but what about us brothers? What If that statement was made by one of our highly recongnized radio pesonalities? How far would the outrage have gone then? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.........something to think about. We must stop the double standard of justifying what we do and say to one another solely on the premise of being black on black. I want to see the day when a young black man or woman can really sit down and watch what their great grandparents went through as Negroes in America and the fight they fought for us to have the freedoms and ways of living we have(which have been set back 40 years) and continue to use the word "NI66A...BIATCH!.....HO....AND TRICK". The mentality that we understand each other when we refer to one another in these forms of language is truly and plain BULLSHYT!. The day when our music starts to reflect how creative the mind of the artist can honestly be....then we can move ahead to a optimistic future. We are still singing, dancing, and entertaining America to survive and try to attain some power as a race of people. For once a society of America recongnized us as what we are to them....CONSUMERS. That brings a lot of power that we don't know how to grasp on to like our elders did 40 plus years ago. We must begin to be smart and to educate the ignorant on what power we posess and what power we can have as a society in America. Rappers..well I take that back because their aren't many of them anymore anyway....but hip hop artist.....get creative and write a real story....sing a real song ....learn how to play a instrument...USE YOUR MIND. Record Labels..........you are the true poison and disease that has spread throughout our entire nation, community and children...allowing the money-makers on your labels to spit out what they think is art and creative expression while putting the real artist and music we yearn to hear on the backburner. The Recording companies are no better or different than the war mongers that are trying to attain full world supremacy by controlling the oil and the earth's energy supply. So as you see, that one monologue by Mr. Imus has reasons behind it that reach deeper than we want to believe but eventually we must face our own reality. As a black man and father of both a Daughter and a Son, I hate the way our race is depicted everyday in the media, on the streets and sadly....in our own Hood. WE HAVE NO ONE TO BLAME BUT OURSELVES. Imus only repeated what he has heard many times before......and guess by who......A BLACK MAN. 9-11-2001 Recently I have had thoughts on the tragedy that took place at the World Trade Center in N.Y.C.,of how many lives were snatched away from us in a matter of just 3 hours...is STILL astounding and beyond belief to me. I work directly across the river from those towers inLiberty State Park, fortunately my work has me on the road daily so I couldn`t witness the unbelievable happenings with my own eyes, but many did.What happened that day made many who believein a God and many who don`t question why?Why here? Why now? Why did this happen? When I finally was able to get back to my job that evening I asked with deep concerns of my co-workers who work that area did everyone makeit . Thankfully they did, but this isn`t about me and who made it out alive andthe Bravepersonnel who gavetheir lives to save others; by no means am I not recongnizing what was sacrificed by the men and women of the NYPD,NYFD,PA,EMT`S and all outside volunteers. I just want to emphasize the importance of this event. It was done on 9-11 OUR code for emergency. The hijackers commandeered OUR planes,full of jet fuel bound for non-stop destinations cross country. They trained at OUR flight schools to "manuever" these planes and this was brought to OUR govt`s attention by these flight instructors. Seemingly what occured in `93 was not enough. OUR govt. felt that a little safety measures and new security levels were enough to keep us safe! They say that the mayor of NYC is a hero! He is man of the year! Well how can that be? What did he do? Did he prevent a future attack on his beloved city after the first attempt? After the 1st trial and conviction of the bombing terrorist, as they were led away from the courthouse they vowed that it was not over! They will return. I guess that the mayor didn`t take those words too seriously, how could he? these were just a small group of men without power and the finances to pull off such an act of terror! Right?! Hmmmmm......think again. Did the mayor take diligent steps to change all incoming traffic to those towers? Did he fight as hard to change flight patterns over the city as hard as he fought for a NEW STADIUM? Did he research future possibilities of attack on his beloved city as hard as he researched the backround of a young Haitian man shot& killed on 8th ave. by an undercover cop? Did he make the city a safe haven as much as he made a safe haven for the 4 cops who murdered Amadu Diallo with 41 shotsonthe account of him having a "shiny" wallet that looked like a gun? And these are a representation of NY`s finest. Did the mayor make sure that the federal govt. take measures to follow the organization of terror againstAmerica and it`s financial heart the way he made sure that a "Youth Rally" inHarlem wouldbe monitored by police,horses,dogs,& helicoptors, all in the name of a city ordinance! What has happened to NYC is blatant and corrupt. Don`t give all the blame and glory to the 19 hijackers, No this was too large to be done in a simplistic manner....They had help! The help of our elected officials & govt. Now we have a war on terrorism, wow! we are sold that this man Osama Bin Laden must be brought to justice! By whom? On what account? Please don`t view me as anti-american simply for my views, as an Americanit is my duty and right to question these events and so should you! If Bin Laden is found then what? will it bring back 4000 lives that were lost? NO. Will it bring justice to all the families of lost ones? I don`t think it will.....how can 1 man`s life be compared to thousands? NEVER. We now look at Muslims of middle eastern decent with the corner of our eyes, snarl at them, blame them and persecute them.Why? We didn`t persecute every young militant white male after Timothy McVeigh bombed Oklahoma did we? We still passively look at young adolescent white males with a smile and think that he is so harmless while he plots to kill all his classmates in school! If there is a war on terrorism then what happened to the war on drugs? People still get high! Smoke weed! Pop ecstacy! smoke crack! sniff coke and shoot heroin! How can our govt. send troops tens of thousands of them halfway around the earth with weapons, tanks,planes,ships,food,intelligence but cannot prevent the influx of drugs crossing this nations borders? Interesting! After 9-11 we became patriotic again, flags everywhere, but where were they before? Most important; how long will theystay? There is one thing that has come as a blessing from all of this......we learned how to say I LOVE YOU a bit more! To all those who have lost loved ones on 9-11-2001, may your god be with you and yours...........PEACE R.Gilyard....2001. < "padding-left: 6px;
