What dumb shit in hip hop creates

Posted

Check out this video of two kids battling. When I was younger, I wasn't one to criticize content in hip hop. Nowadays, I do, because the crap content is pretty much all you hear (except when it comes to the underground and unsigned artists).

All you hear about is money, sex, clubs, and violence against someone. The reason I have a problem with current mainstream Hip Hop is the following:

- Lack of creativity = I am sick of hearing the same shit over and... (continue reading)

personal message

Ahh, what can I say about myself?  How about I just list a couple things:

1.  I am the Co-Founder, Co-Executive Director, and Vocal Director of The Fusion Community Project, Inc.  which is an organization that facilitates programs that allow youth and adults to express themselves artistically, gain life skills, and give back to the community at the same time.  It consists of two programs:

  • Fusion of Youth - A performance team consisting of boys and girls, ages 6-17, that sing, dance, cheer, and perform and volunteer for the community.  In addition, they participate in life skills that build self esteem, build confidence, increase team work skills, and much more. • Fusion Adults - A program that allows adults to participate in the arts and give back to their community.  This program is designed to bring positive adults together to serve as role models for our Fusion of Youth participants and other youth in the community.  It consists of:
    • Fusion Singers - an adult choir that performs a wide variety of music.  Its purpose is to provide affordable community access to major choral works that are typically too expensive to experience.  I am the choir's director.
    • Fusion Performance Team - an adult performance team that performs in the community and schools.  The performances always carry a message through singing, dancing, and/or acting and include life skills workshops.

2.  I am also the CEO and founder of Nashirk Communications, Inc. , an online marketing company that provides the following services and more:

  • Search Engine Optimization
  • Social Media Optimization
  • Blog Marketing
  • Website Development

We are available for retainer services and consulting.  In addition, we create our own properties as well:

  • BlackintheCity.net - A black blog, blog community, and social group based in New York City that targets the people of African descent community.
  • RaceandPolitics.com - A blog that covers politics and race.

3.  I am from Florida and have been in the NYC for almost 3 years now. I perform mainly classical music, but also vocal jazz, r&b(prefer neo soul), hip hop, and spoken word. My voice has carried me all over the East Coast as well as Vietnam and Korea.

Music: I love what I mentioned above, but I also listen to world music, non-vocal jazz, latin and reggae. I am a hip hop head! I love the old stuff (and the select new) that still sounds tight today, i.e.: Tribe Called Quest, The Roots, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Slum Village, Digable Planets, De La Soul, Pharoah Monche, Nas, Blackilicious. Those artists should give you an idea of what I am feeling in the hip hop department.

On this page you will find songs that I have written for personal use and music I have written to be performed exclusively by the Fusion Performance Teams.

Performances: I have performed under the direction of Robert Shaw (one of the GREAT choral directors of our time, may he rest in peace) and Dr. Andre Thomas. I was one of the featured soloists(I performed the character Sportin' Life) for the concert version of the opera Porgy and Bess. I performed at Carnegie Hall with the Tallahassee Community Choir under the direction of Dr. Thomas. I was also fortunate enough to perform on a two week long diplomatic tour of Vietnam with Dr. Thomas and the Florida State University Singers. Under the direction of Shaw, I along with other great singers, performed the Brahm's Requiem for which Robert Shaw received a Grammy Award for his edit. I have also been blessed with the opportunity to perform on the same stage with William Warfield (may he rest in peace) and the Billy Taylor Trio. As mentioned before, I have performed vocal jazz (with Dr. Thomas) as well as hip hop, r&b and spoken word. In the above song, "My Soul", I am singing and Timid is flowing

Interests: Politics, Movies, Martial Arts, Intellectualism, MUSIC, Theater, Lounges, Nightlife, and much more.

Movies: Fahrenheit 9/11, Malcolm X, Enter The Dragon, Do the Right Thing, Kill Bill, Road to Perdition, The 25th Hour, and much more ( I am a movie buff).

Television: NEWS (the majority of the time I am watching television, I am watching one of the news stations, including fox because you have to know the enemy!), Adultswim: Family Guy, Futurama and also the Anime (Inuyasha, Dragonball GT, Cowboy Bebop, etc.), Cosby Show and also documentaries.
