Brooklyn Vibe By Essential Elements  

I remember it was not too long ago when I used to vibe in Brooklyn about 4 years ago now, I remember when I used to cross the street to the elementary school walking and then come home running just to keep the school bully from beating me up can't stop that Brooklyn vibe.  

I remember starring in the Wizard of Oz as Dorothy on that Brooklyn stage. Everyone applauded as though I was on Broadway but they clapped to that Brooklyn vibe.  

I remember how slow the B78 bus was on the morning commute to school. The same every day, LATE to school work and even to the mall. I remember running for the trains just about every day of my life, which were usually on time which is why you missed them, running for that Brooklyn Vibe. 

I remember Christmas' that NC just couldn't match. Snow storms of the century always caught us on or before Christmas Day. Nine times out of ten we had a White Christmas and plenty of presents to pass around. Making snow angels and humming to the Brooklyn Vibe.  

I remember summer time brought base from pumped up cars you never knew existed in the winter time. And it was just as loud as thunder in the summer and quiet as the snowflake touching the ground in the winter; bouncing your head to the beat as the cars road by. Nodding your head to the Brooklyn Vibe.  

I remember the dudes on the corner always tryna holla but they don't even got a dollar to buy me a mountain dew if you can't do the dew then don't, try to holla, not feeling that Brooklyn vide maybe I need to try the Bronx.  

I remember the handball courts full after 5pm two hours waiting for one game hoping that the person who got the ball didn't leave. Nope, got a game get em down two for a dollar then nothing but killas to the shut out, winning handball games to the Brooklyn Vibe.  

I remember there was time when kids thought I worked at the skating rink all day everyday that was my second home, my world, my sanity, ducking and dodging in between the slow people twisting and dipping the music floating on high with that Brooklyn Vibe.  

Then I remember the day I had to say goodbye A new home I would find in NC uprooting from school, Broadway, buses, trains, snow, music, wannabe ballers, handball, roller skates and memories.  

But then again there's never a goodbye but always a hello I take the Brooklyn Vibe with me everywhere I go.  

This page consists of only a few of my poems but i hope that you would like at least one enough to give some feed back.Who knows I might even post a poem and dedicate it to you.
