personal messageIt was a creed written into the founding documents that declared the destiny of a nation. Yes we can. It was whispered by slaves and abolitionists as they blazed a trail toward freedom. Yes we can. Yes we can. It was sung by immigrants as they struck out from distant shores and pioneers who pushed westward against an unforgiving wilderness. Yes we can. Yes we can. It was the call of workers who organized; women who reached for the ballots; a President who chose the moon as our new frontier; and a King who took us to the mountain-top and pointed the way to the Promised Land. Yes we can to justice and equality. (yes we can, yes we can, yes we can, yes we can...) Yes we can to opportunity and prosperity. Yes we can to opportunity and prosperity. Yes we can heal this nation. Yes we can repair this world. Yes we can. Si Se Puede (yes we can, yes we can, yes we can, yes we can...) We know the battle ahead will be long, but always remember that no matter what obstacles stand in our way, nothing can stand in the way of the power of millions of voices calling for change. We want change! (We want change! We want change! We want change...) We have been told we cannot do this by a chorus of cynics who will only grow louder and more dissonant. We've been asked to pause for a reality check. We've been warned against offering the people of this nation false hope. But in the unlikely story that is America, there has never been anything false about hope. We want change! (We want change! I want change! We want change! I want change...) The hopes of the little girl who goes to a crumbling school in Dillon are the same as the dreams of the boy who learns on the streets of LA; we will remember that there is something happening in America; that we are not as divided as our politics suggests; that we are one people; we are one nation; and together, we will begin the next great chapter in America's story with three words that will ring from coast to coast; from sea to shining sea - Yes. We. Can. (yes we can, yes we can, yes we can, yes we can, yes we can, yes we can, yes we can, yes we can...) Where are you? Please sign the guestbook below. ![]()

Whenever you think you're better than someone; if you think you're above someone; if you look down on someone, remember the Jena 6.
Once upon a time there was a MAN who treated women like LADIES. He would open doors, smile politely and always had a kind word. All the LADIES loved him, cooked for him, did his laundry and spent lots of time with him. One day a BUM came along and saw how well the MAN was making out. He had LADIES taking care of him and he took care of them as well, fixing things broken, mowing lawns and going to the grocer for the older LADIES. The BUM, having never spoken a kind word to anyone, began to speak ill ideas into the mind of the MAN, who shunned him off with some hurry up. The MAN remembered what his mother taught him and he refused to disgrace the hard work she did bringing him up properly, educating him as best she could and always being a strong provider in every aspect of his life. One day one of the LADIES realized she was truly in love with the MAN but didn't know how to tell him. She didn't want to upset the strong bond they had as a community so rather than tell him how she felt, she married the BUM and was miserable the rest of her life. MEN...make yourselves known so the LADIES don't have to settle for BUMS.
Go placidly amid the noise and haste, Avoid loud and aggressive persons, Keep interested in your own career, however humble; Be yourself. Take kindly the counsel of the years, You are a child of the universe, Therefore be at peace with God, With all its shame, drudgery, and broken dreams, Max Ehrmann, Desiderata, 1927
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() "Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others." --Marianne Williamson, A Return To Love: Reflections on the Principles of A Course in Miracles, 1992
