I found this african artifact interesting and decided to put it on my page to show the beauty of african art.

Walk With Me

Pardon me, but did I just hear you call my name Who am I I am that image your mind portrays and your heart speaks of I am that brotha this society despise Walk with me and you will see

I hold the promises of love and faith Representing a people from a distant land They constantly feed me the knowledge of the universe to counter the ways of this foreign culture I am that image your mind portrays and your heart speaks of

Endowed with a chiseled face, I reflect the strength of my Asiatic ancestors My hands, built for war, harnesses a touch that will forever remind you of the queen you are The stare from my Nubian ellipses sees the depths of your true self and mystifying the ones who stare back Walk with me Pardon me, but did I just hear you call my name Who am I I am that image your mind portrays and your heart speaks of I am that brotha this society despise Walk with me and you will see

The fullness of my muscular lips represents the power that deeply extracts the love from your soul My skin, privileged with a splash of melanin, captures the rays which provides me with the energy to love you forever My spirituality is strong, so we may walk hand in hand in faith Walk with me Pardon me, but did I just hear you call my name Who am I I am that image your mind portrays and your heart speaks of I am that brotha this society despise Walk with me and you will see

For there is no one greater for you than I, but the Creator himself Don't fear me Sista I was designed for you

Recalim Our Crowns

We need to regain our crowns
we lost them in the Middle Passage.
Our souls weeped for the kinks
and coils that were left
behind on the ship.

We struggle to maintain our beauty
that we silently cried for in the fields.
Our children took pieces of our crown
as they were stolen from our
stomachs during our sleep.

The crowns of growth and change to
respond to the liberation that we
share with our sisters around the world
in villages and cities that are awaiting
the arrival of true Queens.

I found freedom in wearing the
special coils and kinks that wrap around
my head giving me strength
to unite with my ancestors.

The stuggle continues in the youth
that work towards knowledge of self
for the next generation.
We must reclaim our crowns
We have to reclaim our crowns
We will fight until we
are strong and truly free

I am crucified with Christ; nevertheless I live; yet not I but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
