Life has its valleys and peak and right now I'm on the upside of a peak. Climbing out of the darkness has taught me just how strong I can be. That I shoudn't sacrifice my happiness to prop others up. Its 2010 and we're almost a month into the new year. I don't make resolutions anymore, but I have promised to be good and better to myself this year. Take time to smell the flowers, time to do things for myself just cause. I've put myself on the back burner too long and now its time for me to come into my own and shine. If there's something the women in my family have taught me is that we may bend, but we don't break.
So, then, to every man his chance -- to every man, regardless of his birth, his shining golden opportunity -- to every man his right to live, to work, to be himself, to become whatever his manhood and his vision can combine to make him -- this, seeker, is the promise of America.
