We have over 60 members in our guild and will start to organize raids soon. A majority of the characters are already BlackPlanet members so if you are a BP member and have a WoW account you can find us in the guild armory section or come to the Ghostlands server. BlackPlanet on your cellular device, how do you want it? You want to use it to surf the entire site? A few sections? A widget from your personal page? Do you want it to send you alerts for notes, pictures, forum responses, blog comments? Would you use it to schedule your social calendar or events? We can dream the future of BP together. It has been less than 2 months since I created the group and the response on BP has been rather explosive. With nearly 9,000 members in such a short time and participation from such a diverse group of people it has been a satisfying experience to share. The truth of the matter is that as a community African American's interest and use of technology in general has been underplayed and very much ignored despite our spending power in the overall American economy. I can't tell fellow grown folks what to spend their money on, but if we are going to continue to be the largest group of consumers in the nation then we might as well pool our resources, knowledge, and experience together to make the most effective use of our current fiscal habits. I know it is a big goal, yet any progress we make in having our presence respected economically in this world can help us in other areas of our community's condition as well. Even if it doesn't happen at the very least we may find out how to get the huge plasma screen TV we always wanted at a decent price and high quality.

It means a few different things to different people. First of all it was short for Future Tech Group. When you are inviting thousands of people acronyms are your best friends. It drums up curiosity and it saves you a couple thousand keystrokes as well. Secondly in the midst of all the technology talk there was an interest in gaming as well and the subject of World of Warcraft came up. I've heard plenty about the game, but never played it. Since I am always searching for new ways to connect with new members I decided to give it a try and created a "guild" within the game. It's just another way of expressing a team dynamic within the game. So for those who have joined me on Azeroth it stands for Future Tech Guild. Join us and maybe BlackPlanet FTG will take on entirely different meaning for you.

I know this is out of order, but this page would be incomplete without the initial blog so I jacked it from my Moderator blog. How does technology influence the way you live today and in the future?
