Backstage with Barack

Posted July 17th, 2008 at 05:31pm

Dear Friend,

I'm out here in Denver, Colorado visiting the site of the Democratic National Convention, and there is excitement in the mountain air.

Folks are working hard on Barack's plan for a truly open convention. It's a new and exciting approach that will open up this historic event -- just like you have opened up our political process through grassroots ownership of this campaign.

In just a few weeks, more than 75,000 people will enter a huge stadium here to see Barack accept the Democratic nomination for President of the United States.

You can be a part of that moment.

Free tickets will soon be available for the event, but in the meantime I wanted to tell you about another, very special opportunity.

If you make a donation in any amount before midnight on July 31st, you could be selected to travel to Denver for the final two days of the convention -- including the huge event at the open-air stadium on the final night.

Ten supporters will be selected from all over the country, and each will be able to bring one guest. We'll provide airfare, accommodations, and two days of convention activities -- including a private meeting with Barack before his historic speech.

Our team shot a short video of the stadium to give you a sense of the event. Watch the video and make a donation of $250 today, and you could go Backstage with Barack:

Our movement for change is the largest grassroots organization in the history of presidential politics. It's also the first true 50-state campaign in a generation.

We're competing in Alaska and Florida, Virginia and New Mexico, North Carolina and Georgia -- all because of you and our shared goal to bring as many people as possible back into the political process.

That means registering hundreds of thousands of new voters and relying on volunteers and supporters like you to help get out the vote.

But competing in every state will take unprecedented resources, and we need your help.

To give you an idea of what we're up against: John McCain and the Republican National Committee finished June with nearly 100 million dollars in cash on hand. Together with shadowy outside spending groups, they will spend huge sums of that money to spread negative messages about Barack and try to stop this movement for change. It will take all of us working together to counter their efforts.

Make a donation of $250 or more and you and a guest could be selected to come to Denver and go Backstage with Barack:

Supporters like you are the reason this campaign has been possible. We are thrilled that some of you will be able to celebrate what you accomplished with us in Denver.

But we have a long way to go and Barack can't do this without you.

Thanks,

Steve

MTV Video: Veterans for Obama

I was fortunate to be able to grow up seeing America from varied viewpoints. My childhood was spent in Hawaii and Indonesia. After college I worked as a community organizer on the South side of Chicago focusing on improving living conditions in poor neighborhoods.

I came to understand that to truly solve the problems facing our communities, it would take a change in our laws and our politics. I ran and served for seven years in the Illinois state Senate, where I fought for expanding children's health care, providing tax cuts for the working poor and enacting welfare reform. In 2004, I was elected to the U.S. Senate, where I have worked to pass laws securing dangerous weapons and making government more accountable. I have also opposed the Iraq war from the start, and believe that we need to bring our troops home so we can refocus on the wider struggle against terrorism.

Of all my life experiences, I am most proud of my wife Michelle and my daughters Malia and Sasha.

Mr. President:
I have come with the Love of Christ for you. Don't let the stresses of this world get to you and your family. You are a phenomenom in my view. You are a bi-racial (Black Man) It doesn't matter how much of a drop of black you have in America you are Black, Politician with a calling on your life. But beside that you are a Black man not afforded the opportunity to hate Whites because why go through life hating a part of yourself. I grew up with freckles and that's just the way it is. Moving from that point you are a learned man, with the grace of spiritual knowledge as well. You know what a loving God will do in your life IF we let Him. You are the Martin for the future. We who lived through all that knew one would emerge and only a spirit filled man can deal with the crazy folk in America. LOL You will never please all of US (I'm crazy right with them). PLEASE GOD. Even if you lose. Because you are more than a President you are most of all a BLACK MAN WHO STAYED. You are my hero. Live Blessed. Golden

Socialism is defined by the Oxford University Press as: a set of political and economic theories based on the belief that everyone has an equal right to a share of a country's wealth and that the government should own and control the main industries.

Thankfully Obama knows capitalism is outdated. Obama is rightfully looking to expand our economy by promoting socialism. Since he is for nationalizing our oil refineries and our health care industry, America is on its way to becoming a socialistic society. Thank you Mr. Obama for making our dream of destroying capitalism a reality. Yes you can!

Go, Barack Obama, you are going to win it!

In addition to Iraq you can end another war, the War on Drugs, which is conveniently a war against certain communities.

Everybody remember to vote for "more and better Democrats" in Congress so Barack has all the help he needs. It's not enough to just push "Obama" and then walk out of the voting booth.

greetings, as this country seems to be excellerating towards a depression coinciding with global warming, i am noticing that ppl of this country continue to go relying on the so called leaders to repair these issues... have we become so complacent that we are blinded by the fact that martial law is being implemeted as one of their strategy's to combat this economical and global threat???

Have anyone paying attention to the increase of homeowner insurance-increase due credited report. Credit report use to figure out your cost of homeowner insurance-some states is requiring by law. Crucial boost for transparency businessmen, who are lining one wallet. While many American people are bite the bullet.

Consequently, American people are struggle to pay gasoline at the pump, purchase grocery for their family, pay utility bills. While their expose income is eat up by these mean.

From what see, some one may have planned, to weaken the USA dollar. Bring the USA to their knee by using high pay lobbyists: who are out -touch with need of American people.

I suggest everybody, call or write your Senator to include fair amend for homeowner insurance.

Our government have us pacifying words in past to calm concern people, However, not this time , one need a changes..that will increase economy grow.

Why is it that a Black Man can create a tiny piece called a filament (electric light - Lewis Latimer)
that allows people to see in the dark?
But can't be seen fit to lead a country to the true light
Why is it that a Black Man can create an instrument (clock - Benjamin Banneker) that all
people use to tell time But people don't think it is time for him to run a country. Why is it that a Black Man can design a place for the high authorities to meet in a place for the
president to live in (The Capital the White House Phillip Reid (a slave) But not good enough to lead these meetings or live in himself.
Why is it that a Black Man was brilliant enough to do the first open heart surgery (Dr. Daniel Hale Williams)
and show the world how to get and preserve plasma (Dr. Charles Drew)? But not good enough to put a program in place where everyone can afford this surgery. Why is it that a Black Man was creative enough to design an instrument (traffic light - Garrett Morgan) to bring multiple people (traffic) to a halt?
But not seen creative enough to design a plan to bring all this unnecessary and worthless
fighting between countries.
Why is it that a Black Man could create the soles (shoes - Jan Matzeliger) that people
walk on everyday? But not seen good enough to fill the shoes of a bad president.
Why is it that a Black Man was smart enough brave enough to teach himself (Fredrick Douglas
Thomas Fuller - both slaves) and others how to read, write and/or calculate math?not seen smart enough and bold enough to calculate a platform to be President to a country
that sure needs another first by us.
So you see my Brother and Sisters what I am saying is let us not forget our past,
which led us to ,our present and can definitely be the backbone to our future.&
We were good enough, smart enough, creative enough, and bold enough then, so
lets all give Obama the chance to show that we are still these things and more.
We all are as strong as our weakest link, so don't be that weak link that denies
our people that chance to show we still can OVERCOME

Vapors I have no clue to who is going to be either candidates VP. It is a chess game to see who will make the first move and counter move. It is a war of words. Now McCain says that he knows how to end this war, Send more of our children to die for a cause that we should not be fighting for. Obama is correct to change the emphasis from Iraq to Afganistan because our people are at a higher risk there. The plan is simple people pull out of Iraq and move more into Afganistan. Capture Bin Ladin or his now in command cheif officers and end terrorisms base of support. Evidently we are looked at by some of the Iraqis as invaders. If we leave for a short while they will claim victory but it will be empty. Soon they will cry again for help and we should be ready to help them. As far as drilling for oil, that will only cause more disasterous effect on the environment. Drilling for more oil is not the answer. Putting the processes in that reduces the demand for foreign oil and domestic oil. Alternative technologies in automobile manufacturing that makers can produce more efficient , less dependant
