I`ve been online since 1994, and I have met some interesting people. I started out chatting on IRC, then it was Mplayer and Seesaw, but I don`t chat anymore. I participate in the Yahoo! Group "MeetnGreets", an offshoot of BlackPlanet, and we have many fun offline events. We could always use more men in the group, since the ratio at our events is probably 10+ women to 1 man. It's a nice, safe way to meet people. I'm also a member of several Meetup groups (http://www.meetup.com), where I've found local people with similar interests to hang out with.

Quick Intro: I was born and raised in N.E. Washington, DC. I`m a graduate of McKinley Tech H.S., Western Maryland College, and the University of Maryland University College. I`ve lived in Maryland since 1986, and reside near Columbia, which is between DC and Baltimore. I`ve been a software developer for 23 years, and I`m currently working in Owings Mills, MD. After 16 years of marriage, I am happily single and child-free, unless you count my canine companion, Malaika (ma-LIKE-uh). Her name means "Angel" in Swahili, but that was wishful thinking on my part. Some of her nicknames are "Scrappy", "Trouble", and "Wild Thang", LOL.

In my spare time, I like to get out and do things. I enjoy concerts, plays, movies, good restaurants, board games, shooting pool, hand dancing, scenic road trips, Caribbean beaches, or just hanging out with family and friends.

Travel is a passion for me. The lack of a traveling companion won't stop me. I`ve taken 4 solo cruises, and 2 solo escorted tours in the past few years. I toured Italy in 2007, Egypt in 2008, and Alaska in 2009.

Favorite movies: Too many to name, but I love war movies, suspense, mystery, and drama. Any movie that makes me cry automatically makes the list. Favorite actors include Denzel Washington, Morgan Freeman, Alfre Woodard, Sidney Poitier, Sean Connery, Samuel L. Jackson, Robert DeNiro, Laurence Fishburne, Gene Hackman, Tom Hanks, and Brad Pitt.

Favorite sport to watch: Redskins Football

Favorite color: Purple

Most scenic spot I`ve visited: Waimea Canyon on Kauai, Hawaii

Online Pet Peeves: Disrespectful men, women with no self-respect, `net playas, men with FAKE pics, spammers, hackers, people whose grammar and spelling make them seem illiterate (spell check, dagnabbit!), people who ASSume everyone is on BlackPlanet for the exact same reasons they are, and last but not least...total strangers who leave humongous pictures and boiler-plate messages on my guestbook. Feel free to leave me something special, but I don`t want the same thing everybody else gets.:)

Offline Pet Peeves: People who smoke, men with poor personal grooming (i.e.crusty elbows, long nose hairs, messy moustaches), men with ponytails (yuck!), grown azz men who dress like teenagers, people who assume that I`m stuckup because I`m quiet, people who drive too slow in the left lane, people who spoil a movie by telling every detail when I haven`t seen it yet, and married men who claim to be separated but their wives don`t know it.

Reasons my friends like me: I`m smart and I`m funny. Even when I`m down, I try to laugh. I`m quiet, even shy, but I`ll tell you how I really feel. I don`t follow the crowd, I do what works for me. I try to live deliberately, making actual choices, rather than going with the flow. I'm oldschool with an independent streak.

I try to avoid people who: will say whatever they think I want to hear, attempt to be a bad influence on others, prefer to look like they "got loot" instead of trying to build wealth, talk the religious talk but don`t even try to walk the walk, are colorstruck (if the word "redbone" is in your vocabulary, this would be you!).

I`m partial to people with: good self-esteem, a great sense of humor, intelligence, a well-rounded education, an internal moral compass, kindness, honesty, dependability, self-sufficiency and few vices.
