Hello to all my fellow Blackplanet member.....
On my page I could talk about my self but my life is kind of mess up. But the one`s that keep me going is first GOD MY SAVER. Then my Kid`s. Then my Parent`s.I love my mother and father they all way been there for me. Thought good and bad. And last my cousin Rufus. He show me and my brother anything a black man want`s he can get but how far will you go to get it. Every since we were young he said he was going to be a Singer. He had me playing the keyboard and my brother dance with him. Them was the good old day. The only time we got to be together was Summer and holiday. And when we got old all of us went owl own way. But me and my brother knew he was going to be a singer. So let me put his story on how he started his music career........................ ...... Returning hip hop to its more innocent days of fun and freedom, ya know, the days before fun was about Moet and helicopters, Rufus Blaq brings lyrics, skill and style, while partner, Chad Elliott brings the straight up, feel-good beats. With their trademark sound that incorporates melodic harmonies and choruses, Rufus Blaq is a master storyteller. His tales of the male urban experience are universal, yet painfully close to home. Hailing from Youngstown Ohio, 17 year old Rufus Moore took his last $80. 00 to the Greyhound bus station. A one-way ticket to Atlanta cost him about $75. 00. He traveled the whole way with the remaining $5. 00 and a serious intent to rock the mic and rock the world with his rhymes and strong ability to move the crowd. When he arrived in Atlanta, he forgot that he was economically challenged, so he "ate a huge breakfast like he was rich." With nothing left and a full stomach, he slept in the station until his godmother came to get him. His first break was at a club he couldn`t even get into because he was too young. He remembers proudly, "I had always tried to get into this club called The Phoenix. They would never let me in because I was so young and when I finally got to get in there, I really turned it out and Dallas Austin was there. From then on out, Dallas let me hang at his studio where I met Erick Sermon and I met Chad. Using the name Rufus Blaq, in tribute to his people, (the Q is for quality), Rufus forged a relationship with Elliott that is indelible. "We clicked because we`re really a lot alike. His tracks are so different. It`s not like he`s trying to be different, he just takes his time and his beats are an evolution." After five long years, working on his debut and making himself known on the scene, CREDENTIALS, is the product of two masterminds at work, and a dream come true. By the time CREDENTIALS hits the street, Rufus Blaq will have already been heard by millions, because he is the voice on Salt `N Pepa`s latest single, "R U Ready." He says simply of working with the legends, "They are monumental hip hop divas." With co-writing credits on two of their songs and a verse of his own, his debut album will provide the answer for those already asking "who`s that nice kid on the Salt `N Pepa joint"" Brimming with hot tracks and impressive cameos, Rufus Blaq is coming out like no joke. Raised in the church, Blaq is well aware of how far a little melody can go. His background in church and musicality is evident. He says, "I was singing harmony at 2. At 5 I was playing "Lean On Me." I taught myself how to play progressions and when my mother would sing a note I would sing the tenor or soprano note and hold my part. I would dance in front of the mirror with the broom and when hip hop came out, my uncle was a DJ and he would come from New York with the Cold Crush brothers tape and I just lost my mind, so I dedicated myself to music and dancing all my life." favorite pages |
