Peep a few things I wrote:

POEM #1

This is a little something

That you should

Know about poetry.

It`s saying something

About reality and should be

A weapon of revolutionary struggle.

It`s an art

That speaks to you,

An expression

Of one`s feelings.

Poetry is a composition

That`s designed to

Create a vivid image

And a sense of experience.

We deal with reality

To get truth from facts.

Be passionate but disciplined enough

To deliver the death blow.

A poem that directly describes

The situation of the people

And tells us how we change it....

WHY I LOVE BLACK WOMEN

I love the many hues of a black woman`s skin

- the reddish-brown cinnamons, the golden honeys,

the milk chocolate and jet black coffees.

I love the black woman`s inner temperament

- fragile and pretty like a china teacup one minute

and hard and complex like a Chinese puzzle the next.

Black women are the epitone of beauty, giver of life,

a steadfast protector and a nurturer.

More than any other woman in the world,

they are the easiest to love.

They have the ability to rise above adversity

and triumph over challenge.

Black women in the face of double jeopardy,

being both black and female,

have demonstrated a toughness to survive and a tenderness to inspire.

I am in love with their elegance, perserverance and soulful style.

They are all that.

I have to love a black woman in order for me to love myself...

DON`T TAKE IT OUT ON US (GOOD MEN)

I know he made you feel bad & left you high & dry

he said a lot of bad things that made you cry.

But I`m not the one who betrayed your trust

all men ain`t dogs, don`t take it out on us.

He said all the right things that you can`t deny

but it all turned out to be one big lie.

You were in love when he was only in lust

I wouldn`t do you like that, don`t take it out on us.

He didn`t show you any respect & treated you like dirt

and deep down inside your heart still hurts.

Say whatever you want if you must

but I didn`t do it, don`t take it out on us.

He held you real close in a grinding slow dance

he did all the right things just get in your pants.

All you male bashers need to hush

I ain`t nobody`s baby daddy, don`t take it out on us....

KEEPING IT REAL

A young black man kills someone, the media`s there

but a black youth gets a scholarship & nobody cares.

And on T.V. you get to see all the bad news from the hood

but you don`t see the people that are doing good.

And helping each other to make ends meet

but don`t let a drug bust go down on these streets.

Because every camera & journalist will be out

is it any wonder why so many have their doubts.

About whether the black population of this nation

could rise up & do some positive progression?

If someone`s breaking the law, check channel 2

but you start a biz & nobody knows you.

They hate what`s in the rap, rhythm & blues

or hip-hop but they always hate what`s true.

And I`ve got to say what the newspaper should

about what`s really going on in the hood....

MY BROTHERS

My brothers I will not tell you

who to love or not to love

I will only say to you

that

Black women have not been

loved enough.

I will say to you

that

we are at war & that

Black men in America are

being removed from the

earth

like loose sand in a wind storm

and that the Black women are

three to each of us.

No, my brothers I will not tell you

who to love or not to love

but

I will make you aware of our

self-hating & hurting ways.

Make you aware of whose bellies

you dropped from.

I will glue your ears to those images

you reflect which are not being

loved....

Since Black History Month is in the shortest month of the year, I`ll put a little segment here year round for Black History....

Black History Fact: Granville T. Woods was a Black Ameican inventor who obtained more than 50 patents. He invented a railway telegraph system in 1887. This system allowed crew members on moving trains to communicate with one another & with railroad stations. It made rail traffic safer by helping to avoid train collisions.

His inventions included an egg incubator, an automatic air brake, a galvanic(electronic)battery, a telephone transmitter & devices for telegraphs & railway systems, Woods sold many inventions to such large companies as General Electric, Westinghouse Air Brake & American Bell Telephone.....

Message For The Ladies

Posted

For a lot of good women that are out there that are frustrated with the dating scene here's a few words of advice. Have you ever met a "good guy" & he tells you that you're a good woman & that you deserve better? Please listen up. Not every man is relationship material. You're not going to be able to change or mold him into what you want him to be if he's already set in his ways. Real talk. If he lets you know this from the start, he's already giving you a heads up about... (continue reading)
