BIO: I started Djing as a hobby in 1987. After spending money on an extensive library of music, I started putting money towards professional DJ equipment. At first I threw house parties and through GREAT word of mouth I started getting gigs for private parties, block parties, wedding receptions, etc. I always ended up giving out a ton of business cards at the end of my sessions, thus keeping myself steadily booked for months at a time. To further enhance my name, I joined Funk Master Flex's Franchise Entertainment street team in February of 1999. One night I asked Flex's manager about getting on the team to do mix tapes. I gave him a Reggae mix tape, he listened to it and told me to bring my Reggae records the following week to play a session or two at the World Infamous Tunnel night club. It was a big night with Method Man and Redman's album release party. I brought my A game, and rocked the crowd, and was told to bring my records again the ensuing weeks. From the Tunnel, I was offered the opportunities to play in New York's top club spots spinning alongside New York's top rated DJ's. Eventually I was told to bring more than just Reggae records as I was opening, and closing parties, leading to getting my own solo gigs, and other DJ's opening for me! I was rocking crowds of different ethnicities, differing musical tastes, and crowds younger, older, and within my age bracket. I was on a serious strike against sleep, as I was playing industry parties on weekdays(until 3 or 4 am), going to my day job soon after, and playing other parties on weekends. I was burning myself out, and decided to take an extended vacation in 2003. Due to my absence, my name slowly dropped out of the DJ rotation, much to my dismay. I was still getting gigs, but no where near the volume of work as before. As a result, I formed my own DJ and promotion team called PETER STARKS PRODUCTIONS which consist of professional and hard working individuals like myself. Together we are on the right track with a lot of successful parties accredited to us, and we keep looking forward to doing BIGGER and BETTER things in years to come.
