1. I’m Ready 2. A Go Rich 3. Naah Run 4. Focus 5. Be Careful Promoting Your Music OnlinePosted
PROMOTING YOURSELF ONLINE It's been a while since i have posted, but here is some more advice that may help all of you artists. Online Promo - The music business is costly, their is no such thing as getting on for free. It seems like alot of people are trying to find a way in to the game with out any money. Its not really going to happen in today's market. Everyone can spit and everyone can sing good enough to have a hit song (hello? T-pain, Lumidee). Today's game is marketing. Marketing costs time, money and brain power! But you can definitely save money by promoting your self online, here are some ways to maximize your online exposure.
Start by pumping up your online properties: -Images - Its easy to take decent pictures, a camera that cost $500 4 years ago now costs $100. If you can afford it professionals photos are the best option. -videos - Same with pictures, you can get a relatively cheap video up on youtube with a simple camera, all digital cameras have video. -music - I don't have to explain this, if you want to get on, you have to have hot songs.
2. Don't Be Lazy - Get your material up every where you can and dont re-direct people to Myspace or another site. Make it as easy as possible for people to check you out. You are wasting your time posting everything in one place and then sending emails and notes redirecting them to another site. (I'll repeat) Make it as simple as possible , if you are on Black Planet, redirect people to your BP music page (blackplanet.com/music).
Imagine if you went to the grocery store for some steaks and then someone comes up and says "Hey come across the street and listen to my album and then buy it" are you going to do it? probably not!
3. Quality Page - Set up good looking pages, with video, slide images, your music player and your bio. A basic plain looking page with no images says nothing about you and will not help you at all! Stop being lazy, you want people to check you out? put some work in, make your page look lively! No one cares if you can "spit" or sing, everyone can spit and sing well enough. People want an experience! Give them an experience!
Here is an example of an artists with a page that looks good. He has all of his promotional materials available to you (music, Cd covers, images). The only thing he may be missing is a decent bio. If I was a label exec. I could figure out this artist in a minute. photos (10)groups i belong to |
