Science and religion are not really opposites but just very different ways of trying to decode the universe. Both visions contain the material world, which is a given. DID YOU KNOW: Makeda was the queen of Sheba, known in the bible as the great black beauty who melted King Solomon's heart into a song. The child she bore for him, Menelik, started the Solomonid line of Ethiopian kings, a line which, but for an interruption of 300 years, continued right down to the late Haile Selassie. and DID YOU KNOW: the Honorable Marcus Garvey had major beef with Selassie??

But anyway, back to black women of antiquity: the Afrikan myth of Osiris and Isis is a sharp contrast to the patriarchal myth of Adam and Eve. The woman in Afrika was not seen as a rib or appendage or afterthought to man, but as his divine equal. It is hard to believe we descended from this enlightenment into the pervasive and perverted battle of the sexes that is the black man-woman relationship of today. What a shame - but we can still turn it around.

Charles Young, and hundreds of other notable Black History figures have in common? They all had either a white parent or grandparent. In fact, history has revealed that upon emancipation, it was the house slaves that first revolted and sought revenge upon the brutal master after enduring generations of rape, incest, psychological and physical torture. This is not to diminish the suffering of the field slave, but rather to provide insight into an often divisive and well-conspired issue intended to prevent us from rising as a unified people.
