May Your Soul Be At Peace DERRICK LEE NEWSOME Sunrise Oct. 17, 1982...Sunset Aug. 19, 2005 My Memorial To You Derrick I still remember the first night I met you. Back when we were Juniors in High School at that local basketball tournament at Garysburg Elementary. George said this my cuz Derrick he goes to East. You gave me that smile you carried where ever you were. And from that moment in time we became the best of friends. Mama loved you because you were a man walking in the path of God. Who didn`t follow the styles and trends of the streets. Who was a firm believer of faith and prayer and understood exactly where all of your help came from. You were someone that she wanted her one and only daughter to settle down with. She thought that you were something good for me but I thought you were just too good for me. You were someone special, not to be altered or changed in any way. Not to be mistreated or used. See the bible tells me that God said, "Do not mess with my ANNOINTED". You were always willing to lend a helping hand to those that needed it. The only person I know besides my mama that came by my job at Lowes every other weekend just to see me. There`s so much I can say about you but Like Jesus and a person`s wonderful mother there`s not enough in this world to repay you for all you`ve done. The Bible speaks of angels who work along side Jesus watching over us. Truly you were one of his earthly angels. I never got a chance to tell you how much I admired, adored, appreciated, and loved the friendship that we shared. Seeing you for the last time in that casket and watching the church fill with people, cramped in every seat, standing along the walls, sitting in the fellowship hall and down the hallways, listening to the pastor and others say such beautiful things about you, and not remembering one dry eye in the building, Derrick you showed me that at the young age of 22 your work can and will speak for you in your last days. I end my memorial to you leaving a quote from Jay-Z that I feel relates to your life... "I CAME I SAW I CONQUERED" Continue To Pray For The Survivors In New Orleans And Mississippi Let me be your Twizzler: a chick to get you all wrapped up in my love...makes you give up thuggin` for God.  MY MOMENT OF CLARITY I`ve realized within myself for some time now I`ve been living my life for other people. Being who this person wants me to be, doing things that this person wants me to do but not taking the time out to do what makes Felicia happy. And I decided that 2005 would be MY YEAR to shine bright like the sunrise and blossum like a lily in the valley and become a bright and morning star. LADIES REMEMBER TO... Wait for the man who pursues you, the one who will make an ordinary moment seem magical, the kinda man who brings out the best in you and makes you want to be a better woman Wait for the man whowill be yourbest friend, the person who will drop everything to be with you Wait for the man who makes you smile like no other boy makes you smile Wait for the man who wants to show you off to the world when you are in sweats & no makeup, but loves it when you get all dolled up for him Wait for the man who praises God for you, and encourages you daily in your walk And most importantly wait for the Man who is more in Love with God than you. A girl asked a guy if he thought she was pretty, he said...No. She asked him if he would want to be with her forever....and he said No. She then asked him if she were to leave would he cry,and once again he replied with a No. She had heard enough. Asshe walked away, tears streaming down her face the boy grabbedher arm and said.... You`re not pretty, you`re beautiful. I dont want to be with youforever. I NEED to be with you forever. And I wouldnt cry if you walked away...I`d die |
