personal message

What's up Everybody my name is Grace Dyer. I am the author of two published books. My bio "The Tattered Quilt" and end times action packed novel "Through The Eyes Of The Prophets". I am also a Gospel rapper with a thirteen track CD available for purchase.

I 'm gonna give you a brief history about my myself. I was born in Manhattan New York. Later I was removed from my natural family into the foster care system at the age of five. My parents were abusive and alcoholics. I ended growing up in five foster homes in Brooklyn N.Y and later at sixteen years of age I was placed in a foster home in Brentwood Long Island. I faced a lot of hard challenges in my life. I was molested, verbal and mentally abused. I tried to kill myself by drug overdose at the early age of eleven. Thank God my foster sister found me in time and forced me to vomit up the pills. I was not just suicidal throughout my life but depressed. I wished I was never born and couldn't understand my purpose for being here on God's green earth. I was a outcast among my peers from elementary school all the way up to h.s. I was teased by kids because I was dressed bummy, didn't talk like them, look like them( girls in school called me ugly, stink even buck tooth) , boys in school avoided me they didn't want to been seen around me. I wasn't given a lot of food in one of my foster home so I ate all my lunch, my brothers and I begged for other kids leftovers even if they had eaten off it. So you know what that means we became the butt of other kids jokes. We were bullied and heckled by other kids because we wore hand me downs or clothes that other people considered garbage. Y'all imagine me going to Maxwell H.S. in East New York rocking platform shoes and over sized clothes while other kids rocked name belts, name plates, pumas Adidas, well ya-ll get the picture. Boy did I catch it for real! I got into a lot of fights and arguments. I couldn't fight but had a mouth like you wouldn't believe. That's where my strength came from. If I knew any dirt about you and you hurt me physically I used it against bullies verbally. Yet God must have looked down from heaven and pitied me. He and Jesus must had thought it over and said " Son let's hurry up and save this poor wretched soul with the big mouth before someone either hurt her real bad or kill her. Son her guardian angels are taking a whipping out there for and she doesn't realize she has placed a lot of her angels in intensive care and on permanent disability. Son let's hurry up and save her"! Well I was blessed with a group of friends that excepted me the way I was and protected me.

My writing ability was discovered by my grade school teachers they encouraged me to continue writing because they said I had a gift. When I first heard rap I fell in love with the style and mastered that gift too with encouragement from friends I continued on with it.

My first discovery that my autobiography "The Tattered Quilt would be a hit was when I started receiving phone calls from mothers of teenagers. They all sounded the same "Grace my sons or daughters loved your book. They couldn't put it down they love you can you please come over to autograph the book and meet them" my response was " Sure, How old are they"? the answers ranged from 13-18 years old even eight! I was shocked. I thought I wrote the book for hurting women that was abused in all sorts of ways. Teenagers, wow God had plans His and mine were totally different. I have traveled from Long Island, Bronx, Brooklyn, and Springfield Missouri doing speaking engagements, conferences and shows. I even did a Wendy's commercial which aired in Springfield Missouri in 2004 encouraging parents and families to adopt foster children. I ended up in different media outlets. Newsday Long Island Newspaper, Channel, 12 News Long Island, 2004 Today's Woman Magazine, local radio stations and I was also invited to clubs to perform my rap music (you heard me right Jesus and I hit the club scene) white and black walked up to me and hugged me. It was really nice. I have spoken at elementary, middle and h.s I was invited to speak to teenagers that were incarcerated, gang members or troubled in some sort of way. I never said no and often times I was never paid. I did it because I wanted to help them in any way I could and encourage them. I have given away books because a lot of people wanted them but couldn't afford to pay for them. My husband took a big loss financially but you know what it was worth it to be recognized on the streets and receive hugs, greetings an smiles from teenagers who more or less would have shot you or never give you the time of day. That's a good feeling and and honor when they tell me "Mrs. Grace you got me respect".

About my CD and my flow well-l -l, I have been compared to sounding like Lil Kim, Foxy Brown and Lauren Hill. ( I think it's because of my husky voice) My single "More That Ya Want" you guessed it became a hit among teenagers. If you would like me to speak, perform or do a book signing contact me by my website @ http://www.gracedyerministries.com/. Y'all stay safe. I love y'all, One!
