Health issues have always been important to human beings since the beginning of time. The earliest records of history show that the art of healing was held in high esteem since the time of our Ancient Egyptians. So-called modern medicine is not and never will be better than what has come to be known as alternative medicine. So-called modern medicine adheres to the philosophy of allopathic medicine. Allopathic philosophy is the theory that disease is caused by agencies outside the body such as bacteria, viruses or physical means which effect the body. So they treat it with medicines and therapies, but in the natural healing method, all answers for health may be found in nature or rather, the deviation from nature. Therefore, the health of the body can be restored by correcting the aberration and thereby restoring balance. Now don't get me wrong, Allopathic techniques have their place in the art of healing, but we must not forget that the body is a grand achievement of the spirit and built into it is the capacity to maintain itself and heal itself.
Colon cancer is related to your diet. The colon is an essential part of the digestive system. The body is basically designed to heal itself. It has the capacity to regenerate over two billion new cells every day. The energy necessary to maintain this process is derived from the food we eat. If your diet is not providing you with the proper nutrients your body cannot do its job. We will get sick and continue to get sick until we either change our diets or die. The truth is this, "meat" is the worst possible food you can put into your body. The human digestive track is not designed to process meat. Any food which stays in your body for more than 8 hours is going to cause problems. It takes meat an average of 90 hours to be digested. During that time, undigested pieces of meat will remain in the colon and rot, sending toxins into the body which slowly kill you. So, the food we eat is our bodies worst enemy. This food causes bloated stomachs, varicose veins, swollen ankles, high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease or illnesses that can be significantly reduced by changing our diets. Here are some tips on a more positive diet: (1) Cut down on food intake. (2) Stop eating foods high in sugar content (candies, cakes, pies, rolls, ice cream, and refined sugar). (3) Stop eating junk foods and start eating fruits and nuts and drinking fruit juices. (4) Stop eating dairy products such as milk and eggs and start eating their organic counterparts. Organic foods are these produced by nature such as fresh fruits and vegetables. (5) Stop eating all inorganic foods (synthetic, high processed, man made foods). (7) Fast one day a week. (8) Drink 2 glasses of water (room temperature) upon rising each morning. Drinking water is very important. If you are sick, sufficient amounts of water can reduce the complications of fever. Water is the oldest, safest diuretic known. Monitoring your urine will tell you about the quantity of water in the body. Your urine should be clear and not yellow. Body poisons are released through the kidneys-sufficient water reduces the risk of infection because of an over-concentration of urine. Fluid is much more important to human life than food. A person fasting can live 2 months on water alone. Without water he or she could only live 2 weeks.
So it is best to adopted a vegetarian lifestyle. You are what you eat. Think about this when you sit down to your next meal at the dinner table. We must stop eating foods fried in heavy grease and with excessive concentrations of sugar and salt. So put down the ham, potato salad, French fries, pork chops, ice cream, eggnog, chitterlings, T-bone steak, cakes, pies, cookies, cornbread, macaroni and cheese, wine, liquor, and beer.
When changing to a vegetarian diet. Try to eat (at least 50% - 65% if possible) fruits, nuts, and natural organic dairy products if possible. This diet should not be attempted when there is a mental agitation from the environment or if one must carry out worldly duties which require a lot of physical strain. It should be looked upon as a ritual diet for those who can seclude themselves from the stresses of the world, preferably under the guidance of a spiritual preceptor. Otherwise a healthy vegetarian diet will be adequate for normal spiritual development. Heavy foods such as overly cooked foods and meats are poisonous to the body and produce aggressive, agitated mental tendencies. Over cooking tends to destroy the chemical constitution of the food in such way that the body rejects it as a foreign substance (poison); toxic conditions may arise over a short time or over long periods. Change slowly, even if it's only to one vegetarian meal per week. The secret of success in the spiritual discipline lies in slow but incremental change in a set program. Also do not eat to excess (more than is required to sustain the body). If you normally over eat, change by eating one teaspoonful less per meal until you eat two thirds or three quarters of the normal serving. Never forget that since all beings are evolving at different levels, needs will vary according to the individual. Therefore we must be the final judge of what is best for ourselves based on our own knowledge of nutrition and of our bodies. The latter comes from living a life style which allows one to "listen" to the body so that one may be in tune with its needs. This requires a reflective, caring and honest way of being with respect to one's own life, It would not be worthwhile to change a diet to health foods only to increase the stress level and agitate the mind in other areas.
One must always practice the divine principles of love, truth, peace, freedom, and justice, seeking the balance in all things. If foods or other ingested substances are not in line with mental balance, this may be a signal that they are against the divine principles. So keeping a light lifestyle which promotes higher mental vibrations, a light diet and light thoughts are very important.
Due to a life of excess or simply by consuming a modern diet with reduced mineral and vitamin content (due to over farming) and replete with preservatives and pesticide residues, the body may develop toxic conditions and upon cleansing, may exhibit toxic reactions not unlike those of withdrawal. In the short term, the body may become extremely ill during cleansing. This condition is usually a temporary phase and can be overcome through continued therapy and correct living.
Last but not least, do not use drugs or alcohol. The body is a machine through which the spirit energy (consciousness) flows, much like electricity through electrical wires. If the wires are damaged, the electricity (spirit) cannot operate properly. The desire for happiness and liberation of the spirit manifests as a desire of the spirit to expand beyond the confines of the body and life. Not knowing that this feeling can be accomplished through meditation, or not having enough will to apply themselves, some of us seek the feeling of blissful freedom through drug use and abuse. Drug use causes the temporary disconnection of the spirit (consciousness) and the body but it also causes critical damage to the brain and nervous system and further, the drug induced experience is unpredictable and uncontrollable, thus causing more illusions and mental agitation in the mind along with physical dependence. The best way to achieve true bliss and ecstasy is to train one's own mind to reach those levels of consciousness. This process may be accomplished through the practice of virtuous living and meditation. In this manner the process may be accomplished at will and the process will be integrated into the psyche, therefore avoiding the mental of physical imbalances of drug abuse.

Do not eat a major meal past midday, especially at night, because the stomach's natural schedule to secrete digestive acids peaks at around midday and it hits rock bottom at midnight. Physical labor and exercise should be done between sunrise and midday, because its during this time that the sympathetic division of the nervous system, which is in charge of sending blood to the external organs of the body (arms, legs, etc.) is on the rise and the body's supply of glycogen (sugar stored in the muscle and liver) is still available. Do not do physical labor or exercising during the evening, because it harms the body, not only because of the lack of internal vital support, but because it also infringes upon other functions that are naturally scheduled to take place then. It will cut into and interfere with the allotted to the evening functions of the parasympathetic (assimilation, repair, regeneration, etc.). In fact, have you noticed the rhythmic and time condition flow of the bodily functions? The temperature, pulse and breathing rates do not remain even throughout the day. The rise with the sunrise, peak at midday, drop below their mean at sunset and bottom out at midnight.
Breakfast must begin with a protein and followed by a complex carbohydrate. Never make the first thing you eat a sweet (honey, sugar raisins, etc.) or consume more than the equivalent of a teaspoon or two of sugar. Sweets have the attribute of calming down the brain which is not in harmony with the physiological trend at this time of day. Also keep fats low as they slow down digestion and make you sluggish. If you are a coffee drinker, this is the best time, after all has been eaten. Limit yourself to no more than a cup or less per day. The importance of caffeine judiciously used is widely recognized throughout the herbal community. Those of the herbal community are in the habit of chewing the kola nut out of the appreciation for soberness and increased wakefulness. For the same reason, avoid sleeping during this period of day. Besides aerobic exercise, this time of day is best for such Yogic breathing exercises as alternate nasal breathing, bellows breathing and Dhumo (Gtummo) Breathing.
The best time for eating dinner is between 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. It is important to arrange your menus so that 60% of your calories come from complex carbohydrates (whole grains, yam, potato, cassava, etc.), 20% from protein, 10% from fats (vegetables only) and 10% from salad vegetables. It is best to avoid animal products (includes fish, eggs, chicken, and dairy, which are not vegetables , in case you haven't noticed). Besides having an adverse effect on your health, animal protein and animal fat are the greatest dietary sources of cancer, heart disease and rheumatoid illnesses. Meat eating by humans betray a lack of understanding of the interrelationship and interdependence between the makeup of the human digestive system and the food intended for it. If we were meant to be meat eaters, then we would be able to eat it raw without worrying about infections. Do you relish the sight, taste and smell of raw blood? If not, then you were not meant to eat meat. At the sight of a bleeding animal, do you salivate and succumb to hunger pangs? If not, then you were not meant to eat meat. The fact that we have to tenderize meat through cooking and other means, shows that our teeth were not made for meat. We wouldn't have to add onions, garlic, peppers, tomatoes, basil, oregano and do all kinds of other things to meat in order to make it taste like a vegetable!!!!!!!
From 3:00p.m. to 9:00 p.m., you should take advantage of the drying and cooling of the body, for this is a perfect time for using the intellect. The period of 3:00 to 6:00 p.m., is the time to engage lower intellect (syllogistic logical and technological) activities. From 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., the energy of the body is best suited for the pursuit of higher mental activities (analysis, synthesis and intuitive inquires. If needed, you can eat a light supper around 6:00 p.m. Again go slow on the sweets and fat. As I said before, exerting so late is disrupting to your health as it raises the body temperature and the activity of the thyroid when they are naturally scheduled to go down. The latter will interfere with the depth of sleep and its functions (regeneration, healing, revitalization, etc.).
From 9:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m., you should take advantage of the remoistening and cooling of the body by scheduling meditation activities at this time. As the body cools and regains its moisture, our psychic receptivity increases. You should meditate about 9:00 p.m., for an hour to 90 minutes, retire to bed around 10:30 p.m. and wake up at 3:00 a.m., for another meditation session for about 15 to 30 minutes, if this can be accomplished without problems in falling back to sleep. After that, you should return to sleep. In this manner, the subject of meditation will be vigorously worked on during sleep by the sub consciousness. It will also effect the content of your dreams and increase the ease of their interpretation. To facilitate meditation, the yoga stretching postures (asanas) should be practiced before meditating. By stretching the body, you release tension and enhance the mediation process. The body's heat and moisture cycle tends to follow that of the earth which heats up and dries out with rising of the sun, and reverses with the setting of the sun. We must work with the natural rhythm of the earth. We are NOT night owns by nature. Working against the natural rhythm of the earth is what perverts the body cycles and functions. We must exercise moderation in eating, fasting, sex, work and so on. We must get an average of 8 hours of sleep. Sleep and sexual activities have the strongest impact on the nervous energy which is the grossest manifestation of the inner force. All types of drugs must be avoided at all times (no tobacco, alcohol, marijuana, cocaine, etc.) I highly recommend that you become fully conversant with the subject of health and healing!

As a product of syllogistic/Cartesian logical thinking (an arrival at a conclusion or judgment through induction, deduction and inference), western orthodox medicine attempts to establish one to one cause and effect relationships for illness. Specific agent X causes specific health disorders Y, therefore, specific remedy Z must be used. Illnesses can be made to appear so specific, that the same disorder will be given different names because it manifests in different parts of the body (Example: otitis, iritis, nephritis, colitis, lumbago, rheumatism, etc.) and in many cases, treated differently. Because remedies are similarly considered, Western physicians have fallen into the delusory belief in side effects. Since their logical thinking is done through symbols (definitions, etc.), which can only embody a minor part of the realities they are representing, they fail to realize the remedies, of themselves, are not limited to the effects that exist in their minds. Neither, are the disorders caused by the single agents that they have identified. This is the primary cause of many of the medical malpractices that is rampant throughout western medicine. Since many disorders can have the same underlying cause, it would make more sense to tie them together through an abstract name, than to separate them as they have. In harmony with this, the same remedy is given in each case. The state of inner peace is the prime foundation for the functioning of the healing functions of the life-force and is the source of all spiritual power. So this means, that if the self-the indwelling intelligence-is unobstructed it will maintain the physical organism in good health and extend its functions to running the social aspects of our lives as well.
Vitality is the mystical flame, which sustains life. It is what gives the impetus life. It is the force which sustains and gives a person the will to live. If there is no vitality, the entire personality is depressed and there is no enjoyment of life. Vitality sustains the immune system and the immune system keeps external (bacteria, viruses, poisons, waste material, etc.) as well as internal agents (chemical, emotional, psychological and spiritual imbalances which deplete the immune system and make one vulnerable to disease) from disturbing the course of life.
