When Nobody Cared In he shuffled, cautiously looking, trying to blend in, As they looked at the broken spirit and yet with unseeing eyes, For none could see the eyes that mirrored a quiet dignity, Screaming I am a man No one knew from where he came, his clothes ravaged by time, Not quite fitting, it bore the marks and yet it's story was one of former glory, When it hung proudly on its owner,an article of splendor Colors faded and almost hidden by grime and creased severely, Pleading to be cast away. There was a time when he would have been pitied, But that time has long gone, these are modern days There was a time when people would have been willing to share, Willing to help when others suffered life's reversals, That time was no more. These days are different, for all are caught in our own struggles, Too busy, captured and made prisoners in our own worlds, No time to help another who is fast approaching dark oblivion, Woe to us for we are all losers,hurrying headlong over the precipice, All because nobody cares.
