Reports from the International AIDS Conference in Vienna have been coming hard and fast for the last couple of weeks, so stories have had to compete for press space. One story you may have missed was the results of a CDC study, published just before the Conference and presented there by its authors, that in heterosexual, not-drug-using populations in the U.S., the chance that someone is or will become infected with HIV is a factor of income: less income, higher rates of infection.

Black Women in particular need to realize that the stats are against us. A lot of our men are either gay, on the DL, in jail, which leaves the men that are in our communities and consider themselves as heterosexual men knowing their odds are 18-24 Black Women to every one Black Man, and since Black Women are more prone to stay within their race, we endure abuse, manipulation, numerous STDs including HIV/AIDS and everything associated with being with a Black Man THAT has the 18-24 mentality....
