Thanks to everyone who stopped by and left messages when I was
member of the week! Sadly, I didn't even know until it was over!
LOL! I appreciate all of your kind words and the book suggestions
were really great. As soon as I catch up on my Harry Potter fix, I
am on it! HAHAHA!.
I saw New Edition in concert yesterday (6/24/07)! LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF IT! I saw grown men doing the routine from "If It Isn't Love"! I am talking about men in the audience, not the group! LOL! By the way, if you agree to go on a date with someone to a concert that apparently means a lot to that person, at least ACT like you are enjoying yourself and let them have fun! Luckily, I went with my two best friends and we had a great time! . How do you know when Blackplanet has gone too far??? When they send you a picture of your cousin as a love match! LOL!!!!! I am a teacher and have been for over ten years now. I truly enjoy my job. I love spending time with my friends and family. At just about any point during the day, you can find me laughing and talking. When I am not laughing, I can be found listening to music or reading a book. The truth about me...I can be mean as hell, but if I like you or God forbid LOVE you, I am the best friend you will ever have. How I chose my Black Planet name... My name is Chandra, Hindu/Indian for moon. I added the "light" part to make it sound a bit more girlie. Favorites: Book...To Kill a Mockingbird CD ...I can`t pick one right now..I am listening to a little bit of everything right now, from the Grey's Anatomy soundtrack to Nas to Anthony Hamilton to Maroon Five to Robin Thicke to Corrine Bailey Ray. My taste in music rides along with my mood. I also realized that I really like a few of the cuts on a CD by a group known as 4Shades. I bought it because I knew some of the members, but now that I have really listened to it... Poem...Seduction and Resignation by Nikki Giovanni Movie...It`s a tie, Friday and Splendor in the Grass (And just for the sake of stupidity...The Breaks!) Lately I have had a thing for A Walk To Remember. ( I know that`s sad!) The Terminal was pretty darn good! I can`t believe that I left off two of my favorites all these years! The Jerk and A Christmas Story are on my Christmas gift list to me! Daddy's Little Girls was a great way to spend a few hours. I cried. SMILE! Time killer...Hanging out and bowling with my brother and sister or shopping or plotting with Paula, Lori, Brenda, and Donna (my partners in crime on the coast.) Watching my best friend`s kids be themselves is my favorite form of comic relief. They are hilarious! Favorite writer...Maya Angelou and E. Lynn Harris (I think I am addicted to his books! Somebody help me please! OK, I finished Any Way the Wind Blows and A Love of My Own! Damn! He did it again! I have been reading a lot lately, everything from Della`s House of Style to The Coldest Winter Ever. I have to say Sista Soulja brought it with that one! Can anyone make E. Lynn Harris write a new one?!?... Apparently someone got hold of Mr. Harris because a new book is due out soon! So, he finally dropped a new one... I Say a Little Prayer... while it was a good read, it wasn't the best one he's ever written. Favorite quote..."If when you die, you have left the world no better than you found it, then your life has been a failure." -?- Or "Life is hard and then you die!" My students know that one by heart! Things on my mind right now: 1. Why do non-Christians celebrate Christmas? (One of my students asked me this just the other day. And I thought I was the only one that felt that way.) Have you ever seen anybody that wasn`t Jewish just haul off and celebrate Hanukkah? 2. Why does the $0.89 a gallon gas burn faster than the $1.29 a gallon gas? (I swear my car is sucking that stuff up like it`s going out of style!) Now that gas is darn near $2 a gallon, what difference does it make. Never thought I would say this, but thank God for $2 a gallon gas! Paying $3 a gallon was rough for that few weeks! Apparently, someone has decided that we need to be buying $3 a gallon gas as soon as possible. I surrender on the gas issue! Lord, don't let me have to pay $4 a gallon before I get a raise! Well, no such luck. $4.00 came way before the next raise! 3. Why is it that the education reform plans being pushed at this time hold everyone accountable for a child`s education but the parent and the child? 4. Why is it that everyday on the news a new child is reported missing or dead, but parents still feel the need to allow their children to walk away from them. I work in a store with a toy department and parents just walk away and leave children there. They even let children leave them and go to the store next door. The other day a mother put a 7 year old in charge of a 5 year old so they could go play!!!! 5. Why is the service department at the car dealership always full when you really need it? 6. How will this war affect my friends and family that have had to go off to war? And are now on the way back to war? So, here we are in 2007 and my cousin is on his way back to Iraq. How much longer will this thing go on? I know that it will be bad business if we just up and pull out, but something has got to end this. 7. How many days left of summer vacation?!??? 8. See, the other day I was thinking.. You can`t help who you love, or at least that`s what I believe. Well anyway, here`s my interracial dating moment... I don`t have an issue with it other than my father would %#&@$! a brick if I brought home a white guy, but I have noticed a lot of the brothas in the area date women of other ethnic groups, but they seem to pick women that look as much like a sista as possible. Doesn`t that defeat the purpose? If you want a sista, why not just date a sista? (Somebody is probably angry with me right now, but I really want to know.) 9. I read a guy`s page the other day that was meant to "school" women on their wrongs with men. One thing listed was a woman wearing a too short, too tight outfit out with him or her friends... disrespecting her man! Note to men and women... if when you met them, they were wearing something out of the way, drinking, cursing, etc., expect the same once you get them. We are who we are. So, deal or find someone else. 10. If they lied to you, cheated on you, or in any other way disrespected you before you said "I Do", get ready for the same afterwards. Preachers, judges, Elvises, and cruise ship captains don`t magically change people at weddings and rings are removable. 11. Don`t try to be perfect to get someone. If your goal is to have them til death do you part, forever is a long time to be ironing his drawers and hating it! Or as my momma says, "Don`t start something you don`t plan to finish." 12. Just because they make it in your size, doesn`t mean you need to wear it. 13. When did using good grammar and mechanics become unnecessary? 14. If you open a forwarded email and think, "Hey, I`ve seen this before.", then don`t send it to your friends. They have seen it TOO! 15. Read to your children. Read with your children. Turn off the TV, grab a book, and find a comfortable place to read. Help your children become friends with dictionaries, thesaruses, and altases. Play different types of music around the house. If you like it, they may hate it now, but deep down they will learn to respect it. Who knows, they may even end up loving it! 16. Why did you get married?? I have asked that question of so many of my friends and just people I meet. Sadly, I have only gotten acceptable answers from a few people. I know not everyone gets married for love. I think that's sad, but hey. The ones that puzzle me the most are the ones that say if they had to do it all over again, they wouldn't do it. If you can imagine your life without that person in it, I would think marriage isn't what was meant for you as a couple. I want to marry a man that I can't even dream of a life without him. Marriage is hard work (I have been told). Why would I want to waste all of that work on someone I can live without? Just a thought. friends (12)favorite pages |

I have to say that every teacher dreams of being able to have down time, so I am not complaining. So, I have spent the past few days looking around BlackPlanet and getting to know it all over again. I have checked out quite a few pages, all men's pages, but still many pages. What I have found is that people on the Planet really don't talk any more. Page after page was devoid of any valuable... I want to let you know that I really appreciate your friend requests It seems as though each day brings two or three more people that would like to be added as friends. I am truly honored that you have liked what you have seen or read enough to want to have your face affiliated with my page. Now, some of you are thinking, "I asked but she didn't add me! What's up with that!" So, here's the truth... I am old school. Before BP went all 2.0 and all, all of the... (continue reading) |
