personal message"Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever." Mahatma Gandhi Constant Constructive Self Reflection... "I rise in the morning torn between a desire to improve (or save) the world and a desire to enjoy (or savor) the world. This makes it hard to plan the day." E.B.White
"There are moments in my life when I feel as though a part of me is missing. There are days when I feel so invisible that I cant remember what day of the week it is, when I feel so manipulated that I cant remember my own name, when I feel so lost and angry that I cant's speak a civil word to the people who love me best. These are the times when I catch sight of my reflection in store windows and am surprised to see a whole person looking back.... I have to close my eyes at such times and remember myself, draw an internal pattern that is smooth and whole." Patricia Williams "We cannot be easily discouraged. We cannot despair when there is conflict. Our solidarity must be affirmed by shared belief in a spirit of intellectual openness that celebrates diversity, welcomes dissent, and rejoices in collective dedication to truth." bell hooks Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light not our darkness that most frightens us. Your playing small does not serve the world, THERE IS NOTHING ENLIGHTENED ABOUT SHRINKING SO THAT OTHER PEOPLE WONT FEEL INSECURE AROUND YOU. We were all meant to shine as children do, it's not just in some of us, it's in everyone, an as we let our own light shine we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same, as we are liberated from our own fear our presence automatically liberates others. ~ Adapted from Marianne Williamson "There is no better than adversity. Every defeat, every heartbreak, every loss, contains its own seed, its own lesson on how to improve your performance the next time." Malcolm X "Marriage corrupts love, religion corrupts spirituality" JJS "It is well enough that people of the nation do not understand our banking and monetary system, for if they did, I believe there would be a revolution before tomorrow morning." If you've never heard about him, TIM WISE is an amazing writer and activist against racism and 'white' domination (notice I did not say 'white' privilege), and he's 'white'. He dialogs about things most people can barely even imagine bringing to their lips. He is a big part of Americas critical consciousness and a tremendously amazing communicator. I have his book... NEW YORK - For the first time in U.S. history, more than one of every 100 adults is in jail or prison, according to a new report documenting America's rank as the world's No. 1 incarcerator. It urges states to curtail corrections spending by placing fewer low-risk offenders behind bars. Using state-by-state data, the report says 2,319,258 Americans were in jail or prison at the start of 2008 one out of every 99.1 adults.
