INSPIRATION


I'm not a great poet
But I can inspire other poets to become great.
To take what they know then,
Reshape the old world with their prose
Do battle with ideological foes
Who have taken hold of the minds of the masses.
They got us chasin' @sses in circles,
Knee-jerkin' us with the swine flu,
Propaganda Machine workin' over-time
To produce Iranian nukes so that
More children can marched off to war.
They like to....
Hide the Truth, in plain view, on fox news
Because most people don't question what they hear
And they believe what they see.
See, fear is a disease
But knowledge is the cure.
You not sure, then go learn something
That you did not know
And watch how your fear levels
Drop down to zero.
See how much courage you display
In the face of everyday problems,
That some find insurmountable,
Like just being responsible for children
That didn't make themselves.
Being a good neighbor that the Scripture say
You should "Love as Thyself".
Spending your wealth in the cause of Righteousness
Is a test of how much you truly believe,
Or just like to lip profess.

I'm on a quest
But I'm not like Johnny,
I'm more like Haji.
Spiritually incline
But I don't wear a turbin as a sign of my wisdom,
I walk humbly in to rooms undetected
Til I spit 'em!
Drop jewels on fools,
Including the one standing before you
Which means I didn't get it from myself.
I was Blessed with talent
But squandered time,
So I take what i have left
Hurry up and lose rest
Necessary sacrifices to turn
Mices back to men.
Reverse cycles and turn
B!tches back to women.
Set trends and become the new trendsetters
I don't knock Hip-Hop
But among the Spoken Word Artist
I've seen some real go getters!
'Cause there's not waiting for most of us
Lucrative contracts
From all the contacts that we've made.
For a show, you may see $50
But that don't even compare to what you already gave.
Slavin' over mics to turn troubled minds
Away from thoughts of suicide,
Then robbin' the abortion clinics
Of pregnant women
Who now want to carry the embryo
For the full nine!
A sign of
How in the beginning was the Word
And.....
I've watched words spun from tongues
Giving breath back to collapsed lungs
Of those who couldn't speak for themselves,
But now find the courage to speak for others.
See, poetry is like a rudder
It helps to guide the culture.
It points out the vultures
That just want to pick the flesh of the artist clean,
Leaving behind skeletal remains
but my aim is clear.
I'm like a Ar-15 with a night-vision scope
So, even if you far away i can bring you near.
With what's in here.....
To go in here....
And once you hear,
You'll understand why I say....
I'm not a great poet,
But i inspire other poets to become great.
To change the landscape
and make a new day
and get the stage ready for the one's who are coming
To take your place.

The AllHype Poetry Entertainment production this past Saturday was off the hook! We were all dying laughing from beginning to end in between being entertained by musical geniuses like DJ Vince Adams, KENTRELL and ZZAJÉ. If this were a monthly event, rest assured that I would purchase a season pass and some how, some way make the trek from Flint, MI to Chicago, IL every month, just to catch the show! Naima, girl, you are truly a creative genuise and your director and cast is THE BEST ENSEMBLE THAT I'VE EVER SEEN! Even the theater was on point in regard to their friendly attitude and hospitality. This was my first experience, with an AllHype production and it was pleasurable from beginning to end! My hat is off to each and every one of you! Anyone who had the chance to attend and did not, I don't know what to say other than you missed a show that was more than good for the soul! BCO Media, Inc. and Brian O'Neal is hosting a casting call for Brian's next music video from his recently released sophomore CD "Daisy." WE are looking for enthusiastic, eager individuals to portray various roles in this video production. If you live or will be in the Detroit area during the week of August 27-30, 2007, and have an interest in being involved in Brian O'Neal's third music video project, click on the link below to fill out the required application. I was on the panel of conference on hip hop, where some local talent performed; hip hop artist, as well as spoken word(well, we are really all in the same camp).
