Drowning in Poetry

I found myself leaping into the waters of poetry.

And drowning.

I'm drowning in poetry.

I gasped for air, but filled my lungs with dissertations and analogies

A permanent casualty from the wars of literacy

Literally,

Drowning

I'm drowning in poetry

.

My world growing dimmer as emotion takes over

Thinking I'm dreaming,

But really I'm leaving

Behind the world of reality As I become a fatality

Casually

Drowning

I'm drowning in poetry

.

And slowly I give in

Letting the current win

As I am pulled under

Allowing the waves to draw me deeper

I become the reaper

Of sown seeds in my mental

I pick up my pencil

As I sink down

I willingly drown.

Drowning.
