I was reading
the paper today and taking note of all of the information that is
being reported about foreign affairs. It reminded me of a quote
from the Autobiography of Assata Shakur, "Only a fool lets somebody
else tell him who his enemy is. It's got to be one of the most
basic principles of living: always decide who your enemies are for
yourself, and never let your enemies choose your enemies for
you."

sky and stay positive! I am a single mother of one who is currently
residing in the suburbs of Dallas. I am a Black Woman who is
actively pursuing happiness and enjoying all the experiences that

I would like to encourage our people to read
more! I have begun to explore the realm of science fiction penned
by African-American writers. It is not a well-known fact that
WE are writing Sci-Fi and
speculative fiction. If I have peaked your interest, you must check
out the Queen and long time Sci-Fi author Octavia Butler. Ms.
Butler transitioned at her Seattle home in February 2006. I pay
homage to her memory, for she was definitely my hero. She was
considered to be the most successful African-American woman writing
in the science fiction genre. Her novel Kindred and/or Wild Seed
would be a good place for any novice Sci-Fi reader to start. I
highly recommend the books My Soul To Keep and Living Blood by
Tananarive Due as well
