Twenty Four-
For those who want to know my ethnicity. I am Hmong. I speak Miao. Miao is a designation that embraces several different ethnic groups but can be debated because Miao can also be viewed as derogatory; it means 'barbarian'; because we are mountainous people. We are proud and independent people. I am NOT Chinese, my culture has its own dialect though my ancestors came from mountains of China. We were later pushed into Burma, Thailand, Laos and Vietnam. We've fought along side with the US during the Vietnam War which allowed us to migrate to the US. The Hmong people do not have a written history, there are no written records except for what people have encountered. Our traditions and history is passed down through legends and ritual ceremonies (Shamanism) from one generation to another through oral traditions.
