Musical world started at the age of 15 with an audition by Leonard and Phillip Chess at the old Chess recording company on Chicago's south side at 22nd in Michigan Ave,at downtown Chicago ILLinois.

Winning a radio contest with friend James Hilliard of Chicago IL, at Chicago radio station (W V O N) 1450 am back in 1968 they had received a verbal musical contract for 2 years with his group the Explanation's was managed by Chicago's - Jerry'O and his cousin Mr.Willie Moore of the west side of Chicago IL.Jerry'O whom had a hit recording at the time called Karate Boogaloo, when on to start his own recording label Boogaloo Records, base on Chicago's west side. As the years rolled on for Larry Dixon he then when on to record with a new group called The Soulful Spades.

The Soulful Spades all of Chicago IL. One member included Larry's older brother Malvin Dixon Jr, whom also was an ex-member of his last group the Explanation's & The Soulful Spades which also included the Walton brother's.The late Gary Walton and his brother Michael Walton all from the south side of Chicago IL.Their first recording (Next Time) recorded in 1970 featuring Larry Dixon as front man for the group, had replaced the late - R & B Soul singer - John Knight of The Soulful Spades.

By the mid 70's Larry Dixon no longer with a group, started his own record label called - LAD PRODUCTIONS INC,as his back up band Larry Dixon had join and teamed up with Charles Parks Jr & his band (The High Society Player's) to make Larry's first solo single (Star Time). Then later recorded with his cousin Charlie Hosch Jr, using the stage name - (Chuck-A-Luck)- whom at the time had worked for (Earth-Wind-&-Fire) productions alone with the Emotions, all out of Chicago IL area.

Charles Parks The 3rd, and his band The High Society Player's later when on to work with Larry Dixon, and once again alone with (Chuck-A-Luck) together all on Larry Dixon newly formed recording label - LAD PRODUCTIONS INC. His first album in the Making was (Can't Price Love) a hit in the mid 80's.

Larry Dixon to this day is still making new music for a sound of the time's in his own way. By doing the best of - (R & B Soul) - (POP/Jazz) as well as - (POP/Gospel).

All ex- members of the group The Explanation's are his brother's (Malvin - Kenneth & Lamonte Dixon) friends - James Hilliard - Larry Higgins - Thomas Moore & (Pretty- Ricky D) all still living in the Chicago area to this day.
