My existence has come in many fashions - I try to keep up with the times - I remember in the beginning of time - I was used to create pictures - for you to see after my time - catching headaches - pounding my body into the cave walls to create carvings - then turn around and use me to open flesh - to prevent starving - I pleaded and begged - please seperate me from the murder and give me a soft place to rest my head - my body is chipped up and bruised - I had a vision of becoming led - but my vision - brought me to be made of soot from pine smoke and lamp oil, mixed with the gelatin of donkey skin and musk - I have to say - it wasn't refreshing, but to read the words of the writing - it was a must - in other cultures I was made of berries, plants and minerals - natural as the earth mother - each of my inks had ritual meanings attached to each color - I came into the hands of the beautiful Egyptians, who stroked my body on papers of parchment and papyrus - and I loved being in their hands because history was told with each turn of their wrists - an instrument was created and writers penetrated me with the feathers of birds - and kept stabbing me after about every 3 words - this pain lasted me for about 100 centuries - those times brought me sorrow and tears - because alot of what's constituted today was written in those years - I was happy being a stick - manifesting into beautiful calligraphy by the hands of the disciplined man - im now used in every movement throughtout the days - im known as a pen - but my existence will be extinct soon - being replaced by the world wide web... ~written by Mecca 2007
