Damone "Ice Mone" Powell was born in Milwaukee in 1972 and has
become one of Milwaukee's best flavors in Hip Hop and Rap of the
new millennium. Wisconsin has been recognized for its historic
television programs such as Lavern & Shirley and Happy Days,
and for its athletic prowess with the Green Bay Packers and
Milwaukee Bucks. And of course Wisconsin is known for it's
wonderful cheese and beer. Now, Wisconsin also has in its midst one
of the most exciting new artists, Ice Mone, with an explosive stage
show. Gracing the music world in 1993 with his debut EP (Better
Think Twice), Ice Mone has won the attention of various national
publications, including Right On, Spice, The Source, Top 100 in R
& B and The Best of Rap Masters. Ice Mone was also featured in
the Top 100 Groups of the Year Magazine. He filmed his first music
video which aired on Video Jukebox, MTV-2 and other local and
national video shows. Ice Mone accomplished all of this through his
own independent label, I.M.R. (Ice Mone Records). In 1995, Ice Mone
returned back to the music scene with his sophomore album entitled
(Tha Freeza Chamba) a combination of 12 hot tracks. Those tracks
caught the attention of a California music label (Solar Music
Group) S.M.G. which also housed artists C-Bo, The Click, E-40 and
also Master P just to name a few. With steady record sales, Ice
Mone was still hungry to learn more about the music industry. He
moved to Atlanta and quickly built strong relationships with other
artists and executives and learned the style of the "dirty south".
A brotherhood bond resulted. In 2001, Ice Mone joined forces with a
Milwaukee based label "No Salary Cap Records" and was named the
Vice President of operations. He produced the first artist of No
Salary Cap, Niccademus of South Carolina. During this project, Ice
Mone reconnected with his own passion for music. In 2002, with his
third album, "Cold Blooded," he collaborated with his newly formed
Atlanta brotherhood, The Ying Yang Twins and DJ Smurf. The song,
"Shorty Thick" would evolve into a history making anthem in
Milwaukee. He received over 1000 radio spins and was the first
independent artist, not signed to a major label to perform at
V-100's Jam for Peace, later that year. With the support of the
Illinois based Midwest Artist Distribution (M.A.D.), Ice Mone has
sold over 10,000 units across both the South and Midwest. "Keep
Grindin' Volume One," this album (September/October 2003) features
artists such as: The Ying Yang Twins, Baby Drew, Pimpin' Ken, Coo
Coo Cal, and Godxilla. He continues to develop these relationships
and make music with other successful artists and entrepreneurs.
Expect a straight to video film from Ice Mone, Inner City
Stockbrokers, that will include various artists from the Ice Mone
Records (I.M.R.) label. Mack Mone is back is 2008 and is coming
back strong. With his love for the streetlife and passion for music
he has found himself collaberating with one of the most talented
producers Smurf of Colli Park Records. Mack Mone new single reveals
a side of the music that we have not seen before. The title track
Are You Ready produced by Colli Park can be heard here. Hard at
work Mack Mone Walks the Walk and Talks the Talk. His new single I
Got that has been skyrocketing in request across the world. This
song was produced by one of Milwaukee's finest producer's Godxilla
of Alcatraz Records. Ice Mone's explosive talents as a producer and
artist are fast becoming leading forces in the Midwest Rap/Hip Hop
culture. Please include any feed back regarding the songs. Trying
to show love back to the black community. Comments, requests,
suggestions are welcome. Hope ya'll enjoy the video as much as I
enjoyed making.
