BIO

Everyone in this life has a main issue holding them back. The musical genre of hip hop has had numerous issues to deal with throughout its history. In 2008, the genre's newest "Ishu" is about to come centre stage.

Nobody knew that on May 25, 1988 a star would be born. Raised in a strict Rastafarian family, artist Mayne Ishu, grew up in many different homes and shelters along with his single mother, little sister and older brother. Because of constant travel and separated parents, young Ishu learned how to survive on his own, relying only on himself. These tough times brought out the best in him, when at age seven he began writing poetry, and shortly after learned how to put these poems into lyrics written over hip hop beats. While in high school, he was exposed to the art of freestyling, and his audience was so blown away with his performance that he decided to continue using this technique as his hallmark.

At the age of fifteen Ishu began recording alongside his longtime friend, producer King D, and quickly developed a unique flow and sound that few could match. Now 20, Mayne Ishu has already had radio play success with "Hit Me Back" (which received air play on both Flow 93.5 in Toronto and WBLK 93.7 in Buffalo), and has performed in front of live crowds, bringing the audience to their feet. In 2008, Mayne Ishu joined forces with a new team, Living Proof, and has done nothing but amazing things since.

During the summer of 2008 Mayne Ishu flooded the streets of Toronto with the release of his first promotional mixtape "The Warning". The debut came with nothing but rave reviews from all audiences. Complete with 12 dub plates and 1 original track, "The Warning" shows the listener his complete diversity and his ability to come hard on any type of beat. To complete the package, "The Warning" is hosted by Toronto's number one DJ crew, The Ill Kidz.

"The Warning" was quickly followed up by the August 1, 2008 release of "The Warning...Part 2". This exclusively online mix tape is availabe for download on the website of Living Proof Enterprises, www.lvproof.com. Although not as wide spread as "The Warning", this mix tape hit the streets hard and has done nothing to weaken the credibility that he is quickly gaining in the industry.

Currently, Mayne Ishu is in the studio working on his debut LP and is in the process of writing songs for commercial radio air play.
