Hey BP Family: Thanks for stopping by. </p> <p>Recently BlackPlanet put up a page that I think you should check out. In honor of Black History Month we created a page (sponsored by Verizon) titled The State of Black. The page has a really cool set up and rather nice interviews to go along with it go check it out here when you have a chance. </p> I'm a BlackPlanet.com employee so from time to time I'll post custom pages that we have up for advertisers or internal marketing to get your take on the new things we have on BP. I have been working here in the Sales Marketing department for the past year and have learned so much about this community! You guys are very dedicated to BP and that's powerful for such a niche site. BlackPlanet has been around for 10 years (that's longer then Myspace AND Facebook!) and has been given a bad wrap most times. We are seen as a hookup site only, but from what I've seen there is so much more to us. We are a site for Black folks to connect with like minded individuals; and if we happen to get a date along the way it's a plus!As a Sales Marketing Manager I work on sales for advertisers who are looking to reach this audience though custom opportunities. I've worked on deals with Disney, Tide, countless movie studios, automotive companies, beauty and health advertisers. I really enjoy my job and hope that the advertising campaigns we bring to the site are beneficial to you and keep you engaged.
