personal message

New Orleans: A Labor of Love is a grass roots, web-based public awareness campaign committed to recruiting a minimum of 5,000 volunteers for the Gullf Coast during 2008.

Our positions:
1. We will keep media attention on Gulf Coast relief issues through our Dream Big '08 Telethon, our viral video campaign and our documentary series.
2. We are committed to developing a thriving user-supported community of volunteers, tastemakers, policy makers, relief organizers, greenbuilders, and Gulf Coast residents in order to provide much-needed quality of life resources to the Gulf Coast.
3. We actively recruit volunteers, connect them with assignments, and provide information/resources to help them have well-informed, life-changing volunteer experiences.
4. We will never give up.

We offer a one-of-a-kind service for volunteers to connect with opportunities and resources. We are dependant on public support to assist us in letting people know: New Orleans still needs volunteers.

Please donate now to help cover:
-Completion funds for the film.
-Stipends for our student moderators who will maintain the user-supported community of Katrina volunteers in search of information and resources.
-Additional trips to New Orleans to document and videocast the most up-to-date state of affairs, from the mouths of citizens and volunteers.
-Marketing the campaign to universities, church
es and Myspace/Facebook/Blackplanet web communities to recruit volunteers.
