personal message

Hello Family, before I begin, I would like to say respectfully that I would prefer to receive notes and not instant messages. I do not like pop-ups on my screen. In addition, I am uncomfortable communicating with those lacking pictures. Your understanding is appreciated.  I want to pose a few questions to my visitors. What if you were told that you had only one year to live. Would you make changes in your life? What would those changes be? Would you treat family and friends differently? Would you be better to yourself? Would you stay in that relationship or job that no longer meets your needs?

Sometimes, we get so caught-up in the roles we play(employee, mother, son, daughter, wife, provider, caregiver, student) that we forget who we are at our core. We do not exist just to be the sum of the roles we play. Our existence within this universe has much more meaning than what we do and the roles we play. Do not forget your dreams and desires. Do not sell yourself short in any form of relationship and settle for less than what you deserve. Do not allow your fear to influence your decision-making process. A good portion of our situations we find ourselves in are due to the decisions that we have made, so we must take responsibilty for those decisions. Other decisions can also be made to live a more authentic life, searching for your true self and nurturing and developing that person. I challenge each visitor to seek the deeper meaning within your existence and take action to find your logical balance.

I have reached most of my educational and career goals in my life. I earned a Ph.D and I am a college professor. I do some organizational consulting and sit on various boards and committees. I made a conscious decision to find something that I love and make money doing it. I am building my legacy; creating leaders of human services organizations to make the world better, in addition to working with organizations directly to help them better serve their populations by enhancing their operational efficiency and effectiveness.

In addition, I am building a personal legacy. I am going to travel the world. I started with London in the summer of 2009. I enjoyed Egypt in the summer of 2010. I will be planning for Peru, in the summer of 2011. I am going to continue to expand my awareness, both internal and external, by interacting with different cultures in various parts of the world. I have also been exploring my more creative side lately. I have been performing the spoken word at various open mics in Baltimore and more recently taking guitar lessons. I will continue this process of self-discovery...seeking balance in my life. I have enjoyed the process of reconnecting to this side of myself. I have also joined The Dennis Brown Shaolin Wu-Shu Training Academy where I am studying Tai Chi Chuan. I am exploring inner peace and balance. It almost feels spiritual. I currently have a green belt.

LIVE EACH DAY AS IF IT WERE YOUR LAST! DO NOT JUST EXIST, FEED YOUR PASSIONS, TASTE YOUR DESIRES, AND DRINK YOUR TRIUMPHS!!!!
