Lady of Grace…Woman of Peace

I woke up this morning and looked in the mirror.
What I saw today was different than any other day.
Yesterday, I saw myself…a sinner, ugly, black, scarred, stained.
Before I went to bed, I said my prayers to the One who created it all.

I woke up this morning and looked in the mirror.
What I saw today was different than any other day.
Today, I saw myself…saved by grace, beautiful, black, washed cleaned, eyes filled with hope and peace.

What caused the change?

I finally decided that there was One who was greater than I was.
One who promised me that He would wash me white as snow….
My only responsibility was to proclaim HIM, call HIM by His name…
Believe like I have never believed…. trust like I have never trusted.

I had to forgive, as I now understood that I was forgiven.
I had to love like I now understood that I was loved.
I had to extend mercy and grace, as I now understood that grace and mercy was mine.

What I see today is a lady of grace, kissed on the forehead by a Father who
Not only created me, but constructed me divinely for His purpose.
I see what I will be tomorrow, I see what I was in the past, and I see what I can be on this day.

I am a lady of grace fashioned in the image of the Creator, who makes me new each day.

Dear Creator, I except my commission as a lady of grace…. a daughter of yours. Destined for greatness.

Yes, I am a lady of grace. I now walk with my head high filled with the grace and mercy that was extended to me
due to a beneficent and merciful Creator.

Black Queen

Beautiful Black queen
You are the lady in my dreams
So sweet is thy lips
So soft and tender is thy breasts
I have never known the joy
The joy which you bring me
Tonight I lay awake eye open
Thoughs of you on my mind
Its hard for me to express my feelings
So usually I tend to ignore
The love which I have for you
You are the joy in my heart
The face of the night sky
I can never let the chance
Of loving you pass me by
Because you are the one I been
Longing for.

To All The Good Sista's

Hold your head up sista's,
for you are a jewel
you say you are nothing, don't be a fool.
You are one of God's most beautiful beings,
Get out of that relationship,
drop the dead weight you're seeing.
You deserve to be treated
like a queen, and loved.
For remember your creator,
you were sent from above.
You're a beautiful black woman,
demand your respect,
Think positive of yourself, or much
baggage you will collect.

A black woman so beautiful,
who can compare?
who can find one more precious?
Can someone tell me where?
The way she walks, it is second to none,
She can walk pass a brotha,
and his heart she has already won.
A sense of pride she has,
and a voice so soothing to the ear,
Her smile lights up the night,
oh how I wish she was near.

Near to me here, as I sit in this place,
So I may hold her close and look into her face.
A good black woman, makes one
want to be a better man,
To be together with her, for that's God's plan.

Here's to all the good sista's,
for all that you do,
there is a good strong brotha,
who is looking just for you.

Pot calling the kettle racist

Posted

We should not sit quietly while leaders of our choosing, who would represent the concerns and issues that impact our communities are publicly attacked.

There 0ver 80,000 friends of NorthStarNews on Black Planet. This may one of those times when each and every one of us needs to be heard. Please leave a comment in support of our sister Judge Sonia Sotomayor. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr said "In the end we remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our... Confederate flag poll results

Posted

With 655 of you weighing in, 86% of you belive that the confederate flag is a symbol of racism, while 16 percent of you do not. I think the results say a lot about the cultural perspective that Black Americans bring to this and other issues.

Thanks for participating.

MLK's Children

Posted

Check out this story in the Atlanta Journal Constitution. So, what's up with the children of Dr. King and their public beef? It's one thing to disagree but their family squabble is out of control. This is some sad stuff to watch. After all Dr. King and Coretta went through, the kids are wildin' out. Who would have thought? Seems like somebody ought to be able to get it together. I do wonder how much Steven Spielberg got for the film rights to Dr. King's life.
