Terius Youngdell Nash, also know as "The Dream", was born in Rockingham, North Carolina.
At the age of two he moved, with his mother Reva Nash, to Atl
anta, Georgia, where she raised him until her untimely death at the age of thirty-five. Afterwards, he was taken in by his grandfather, who was an avid music fan. It was through this relationship that he was introduced to many of the great legendary artists that made up his grandfather's record collection.
As soon as he heard the sweet soulful sounds of Sam Cooke and Al Green, "The Dream" was hooked. In the third grade he enrolled in beginning trumpet classes at Grove Park Elementary School. He continued playing the trumpet through high school and later added to his musical repertoire by learning to play the drums and guitar.
In junior high and high school his musical influences broadened to include artists such as Timberland, Missy, Aaliyah and TuPac Shakur. His talents continued to develop naturally and eventually lead to singing, rapping and song writing.
In addition, he is also an accomplished artist and has created many paintings and sculptures, some of which have been shown at various art galleries throughout Atlanta.
"The Dream" was introduced to Laney Stewart at Redzone Entertainment in 2001, and although their first meeting wasn't very successful, things fared better the second time around and Laney pulled him into his camp, where they immediately started to write together for the multi-platinum group B2K.
In early 2003 he was signed by Laney Stewart to a new publishing deal with Morningside Trail through a joint venture with peermusic. Since then he has continued writing for other artists and his most recent collaborations include Britney Spears newest single, "Me Against The Music".
Terius just wrapped work on Jive artist Nivea's forthcoming sophomore effort (April 2005) including the hit single "Okay" featuring Lil' John and Youngbloodz.
IN 2006, Dream was brought in by Tricky Stewart, of Redzone, to write with several artists the company was working with such as, Atlantic artist, Bayje, Capitol artists Dear Jane and J. Holiday and Interscope artists Brit and Alex. All of such are due to release in 2007.
To kick off the new year, Dream started 2007 with a bang. With the help of Tricky, "Umbrella" was created and was shopped to several labels for several artists. From Britney Spears at Jive, to Mary J and Akon, but it was Karen Kwak of Universal Music that got the record into the hands of LA Reid and the rest is history. Dream knew right off that Rihanna would be the best artist out of all those incontention for the record. Island Def Jam flew Dream and Tricky to LA to record with Rihanna and also while there they wrote "Breakin Dishes".

-Official Letter from The Dream-
- To all my fans on Myspace, Blackplanet, Facebook, Defjam and all my fan sites -
First I want to thank God for the trials of life, without them we can't know purpose!
I would love to tell the truth as to why my relationship wasn't successful, but today that is between me and Christina. Its easy to say that it’s because of another woman or a new relationship but truthfully, IT’S NOT.
I take FULL RESPONSIBILITY for misleading everyone into thinking everything was fine and okay when we knew problems existed for awhile! I wanted to speak up but we decided it wasn't for anyone to know. I would NEVER intentionally hurt a soul and everyone around me knows that! There was so much going on in me and Christina's personal world that I tried to deal with it as delicately as I could and tried to regain my footing. Instead of being direct in order not to cause even more hurt or hurt someone's feelings, I carried the weight in secret!
I am Human and people fall in and out of Love all the time... This is Life. Nothing’s promised or perfect, neither am I. I am not proud that I lost something we once had...LOVE! I've always been a Loving Father, Hard Worker, Generous, Stern and Eager to prove myself. My faults are I can be irresponsible and an %#&@$! sometimes, but I HAVE NEVER and WILL NEVER be a malicious person or wish harm to anyone, especially those I love or the mother of my child. I'm sorry for the embarrassment to everyone involved! If there's anyone to blame and you can't fathom this happening, please blame me and me alone for not being upfront! Even though we were trying to overcome personal things between us, I was just simply scared and embarrassed to let everyone know we WERE FAILING and HAVE NOW FAILED!
This is not to justify anything, it’s true emotion! It’s a real thing that involves real people! I've cried about this for months, after interviews, after prayer and I've tried to take my own life at a point because of the failure that was looming.
But I was reminded by my MOTHER that I am not "Superman" and its okay to lose sometimes...
