personal message

I have many interests but I think one of my biggest is politics. I hope we've all noticed the rather dysfunctional nature of the 112th congress over the past few years, the almost total financial collapse of our economy back in 2008, the weird kookiness coming from the political right, and the disrespect that has been shown not only to the president, but to his entire family by certain politicians and long-winded, right-wing commentators whose names I will not bother to mention. I am committed to supporting President Barak Obama for the rest of this term and for a second. If you don't share this view that is your right, but in my humble opinion, we have a very grave problem on our hands in this country and in the near future we will all be forced to take a stand and fight for what is right, regardless or our desire or interest in doing so. I welcome comments and discussion on this topic from other Black Planet members.

I have begun posting to my blog and I invite all visitors to check it out, leave comments, and lets get some serious discussion going!

I used to read to her. I taught her personal info like her name, address, phone number, and how to write the letters of the alphabet, plus many other things, including some science.

But in addition to teaching... (continue reading)

In Hindsight

Many years ago when I was an upperclasswoman at a private Chicago Catholic high school, a friend of mine and I decided to do an impromptu exploration of the surrounding neighborhood. We decided to walk down a street we had rarely used, just to take a look. It was supposed to be a commercial strip, and indeed at one time it had been. As we walked along, taking it all in, we could hardly believe our eyes. Storefront after storefront had been vacated and abandoned... (continue reading)

In Memoriam

Posted

I was once told that it is part of my astrological profile to take note of beginnings and endings. Perhaps that is true because every year I do find myself thinking of those who have passed on. It seems proper and respectful to acknowledge people who have lived their lives and who are no longer with us, whether they be public figures or private, ordinary citizens. Everyone deserves the same acknowledgement and respect. So I am presenting a list of those people of note... (continue reading)
