The Real Me
People often judge me by the color of my skin, they say," oh, she's mixed, she doesn't know where we've been." They say I'm not black because my skin's not the color of mud. They say "she must be half Puerto Rican" I'm just like every other African American in America. I deal with the issues of drugs, sex, and peer pressure. I'm black when you analyze my ancestors history, but the color of my skin doesn't make me. When I don't wanna do drugs and talk all that smack, people say, "What! You don't wanna be black." That's when I get mad cause they're insultin my people. But they never seem to listen, they just keep on speakin. I know the definition of the word and color black, I know the many reasons why my ancestors fought back. I act like myself always no matter what situation I'm in, my ancestors fought for freedom, and to not be judged by their skin.
