ABOUT RIO: Born in Queens, New York. Lived in Houston, Texas for most of my life. Been down with Hip hop since the days of Run DMC and Kurtis Blow. As I visited family during the summers and the holidays in New York, the regionality of the music always captivated me. Never thought that radio was going to be my passion. Listened to all of the great radio stations and dreamed of being behind the microphone. Worked my way up from college radio in Alvin, Texas to AM radio. My first job was working for a Christian Country station. Then Tejano radio in Houston gave me an opportunity to work on the FM dial. At that time, I always listened to 97/9 The Box whenever I could. An opportunity landed me a parttime job and then On Air on the weekends. The door opened to me working at the #1 radio station and playing my favorite music. it was great, but I wanted to be a everyday Air personality. In 2000, made a huge leap of faith in working at a new Hip hop station in a city called Tyler, Texas. No idea what would happen and the first time leaving my home of Houston. The first ratings book showed our new station to be #1. At that time, I was working Mornings (even though I didn't have much of a night life) loved every minute on the air as the "Blaze Morning Playa" til 2004. Moved to North Carolina for a new radio station opportunity for about a year and a half. Arrived here in Indianapolis in September of 2005. Thank you for the many years you have listened to the show. Everyday, I want to represent you! Every Christmas, my way of giving back, I dedicate "12 days of Christmas" to the needy families of Indianapolis. For 12 straight days, I live outside to collect toys 24 hours a day/12 days. We give these donations to special orginazations that help the needy.
