Chief Rocker Busy Bee use to ask the party people, "Which sign is the best?" Well born under the zodiac sign of Libra which many believe to be the sign of balance and artistic creativity on Long Island, N.Y. in the 1970's and seduced during Reaganomics (the 1980's, which was the Golden Age of Hip-Hop music), when creativity flourished. This featured emcee, who records under the pseudonym of Sam's sun taken in honor of his deceased father Minister Samuel Lloyd Robinson Sr., learned of and fell in love with the five elements (emceeing, deejaying, b-boying, graffiti writing, and knowledge). Dabbling in all the elements, his major forte was Moving the Crowd. In his borough of this cultures Mecca, he spent years honing his craft recording a multitude of promotional material for underground radio, in and out of groups, and putting out independent vinyl and compact disc's. Throughout his career he has shared the stage with a host of artists (such as The Cold Krush Brothers, the Krash Krew, the Furious Five, Double Trouble, KRS-One, Big Daddy Kane, DJ Red Alert, De la Soul, Redman, Keith Murray, Common, O.C., Organized Konfusion, and others). These Hip-Hop shows were often part of college tours or at locations such as the Wetlands, S.O.B.'s, the Lennox lounge, the Nuyorican Caf , and a long list of legendary hot spots in the Big Apple. To those who comprehend the difference in Rap music and Hip-Hop culture, Samssun can only be associated with the latter. Rap music like all other forms of music often puts integrity second, is trendy, and is mainly developed for its money generating potential in which its success is based on. While Hip-Hop culture is a way of life, a timeless sound, a style within its own, without pre-meditation. Though often labeled "a back pack emcee" his sound has metamorphasized over the years to consist of a reminiscent quality, composed of instrumentation, chords, obscure samples, and rhythms now known as Neo-soul. For most of us, as we advance in age and learn from experiences on this trying plain of existence our priorities change. As children we think as a child, as adults we supposedly put away childish things. While some focus on ego, glitz, glamour, public approval, and keeping up to date with the latest fad, he recognizes the importance of family, clothes, food, shelter, financial security, and keeping up to date with current events. In addition to emceeing, knowledge has also become his forte. As an artist Samssun utilizes music as therapy. A way to relax, relate, and release his emotions to the audience. As a man Samssun is a student of life, learning from his elders, his peers, and those younger than he, stepping outside the realm of basic information supplied by many secret societies to learn of them and what they don't want us to know. It is these societies (that control our governments) whose mission is to pollute the not yet developed minds of the strongest entity on the planet (the black youth). But opposing this can not be accomplished by one man (Barack Obama included no we have not yet overcome!). There is strength in numbers. As adults it is our responsibility to first attempt to make change in our own communities, in hopes that the domino effect causes this work to trickle down toward other territories in aims to one day fully cover the entire globe. With this being said to work closely with others and be effective, we should seek those who share our same moral code, cultural awareness, and aspirations.
