main photo personal message I was born and raised in the streets of Brooklyn, but have always repped for North Carolina. After talking with me you will understand why I do what I do what I do for a living. My first aspiration was to be a news broadcaster but after landing an internship at WRKS-FM 98.7 in 1992 while attending The Center for the Media Arts in NY, I knew radio was what I wanted to do. After winning a contest on New York's #1 Hip Hop Station Hot 97 in 1999 "Who Want to be a DJ", I was offered a part-time position there, where I worked weekends and fill- ins. Yea in NEW YORK CITY blasting on the airwaves where I stayed for more than three years before moving back to North Carolina to be closer to my family. Dubbed "Da First Lady" in 2002 after becoming the first female on a radio station in New Bern, NC, I finally got my chance in June 2005 at Radio One's WQOK K97.5 in Raleigh, NC. I came aboard part time and created my gossip segment, which can be heard weekdays at 11:30 SHENA'S CELEBRITY SCOOP. Since January 2007 Middays in the Capital City haven't been the same and I am loving every minute of it.
