Political Piece by Maurice Skillern; _____________________________________________________________________________________ In this day and age, I find myself compelled to comment on the Obama-Wright situation. It is an unfortunate situation that illustrates the diverging thought on the direction of the black community, as well as a break down of a friendship. Whereas everyone... We walk in the darkness created by them of diminutive thought. We have thus far followed a destructive path fueled by the blood of fallen heroes. Yet, those who currently have the wheel suffer little from their fruitless pursuits. But instead, wish to add fuel to the already raging fire that eats away at the core of our fractured moral standing like cancerous growths. personal messageThe Author-Poet-Philosopher; Maurice Skillern was born in Houston, Texas. After graduating high school neither he nor his family had the means to send him to college so he then made a focused decision to better himself no matter what the sacrifice. To serve his country and to pay for his college education he went active duty into the United States Army where he spent most of his adult life. He has served both on active duty and in the reserve components. In the years since joining the military he has served willingly in three conflicts (Desert Shield/Storm (1991), Joint Endeavor (Germany; 1996), Iraq Freedom (Baghdad, Iraq; 2003)). He has served on both sides of the Army houses (Officer and Enlisted). Initially as an enlisted soldier (where he reached the rank of Sergeant First Class (E7)) and eventually he served as an Officer (Retired a Captain). As of 5 April 2008 Maurice Skillern is officially retired from the United States Army after 22 yrs of dedicated service.
