*HIV is spread through unprotected v a g i n a l, anal, or oral sex with an infected person. It is also spread thorugh sharing infected needles for drugs, tatoos and peircings, or from an infected mother to her baby through breast feeding.

*There is no cure for HIV.

*When a person first contracts HIV there are usually no symptoms.

*A person can have HIV and feel perfectly healthy for many years.

*The only way to know if a person has HIV is to get an HIV test.

In 2005 Of all black women living with HIV/AIDS, the primary transmission category was high-risk heterosexual contact.

In 2005 Hispanics/Latinos accounted for 17% of the 491,727 persons (including children) living with HIV/AIDS in 33 US states reporting HIV Statistics..

In 2005 High-risk heterosexual contact was the source of 80% of these newly diagnosed infections of HIV.

Of the estimated 18,849 people under the age of 25 whose diagnosis of HIV/AIDS was made during 2001-2004 in the 33 states with HIV reporting, 11,554 (61%) were black

In 2004 AIDS was the leading cause of death for black women aged 25-34 years.
