Giving BACK!

Posted

Here is a slidshow of my company's (T-Mobile)effort to give back to the community. Over 200 T-Mobile employees take an off day to volunteer time to improve after-school facilities in cities across the country. It was such a fulfilling day, knowing that a large coorporation, like T-Mobile, cares about our nation's underprivilaged youth.

<embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash"... WHAT WE FAIL TO UNDERSTAND

Posted

Okay, it's two o'clock in the morning, and I feel the need to write on this topic. Please feel free to comment and I apologize for any typos you may see...I'm trying to just type what I think and get to sleep. In all my (few) years of dating, I have now come to realize that MANY people are mixed up in how romantic relationships are essentially supossed to flow (FLOW being the operative word here, but that's another note). Granted, most of us aren't given lessons on the LEVELS of romantic... (continue reading)

Can Men & Women Be Strictly Friends?
....questioning the state of our union...

This is a part of my own internal monologue dealing with the complexities of a friendship I'm presently in, as well as an on-going conversation between myself and a gal-pal...I've gone back and forth with myself on this matter, and as you can see, up in the middle of the night typing a random e-mail...In the past, my friendships with guys have either withered away due to neglect, or... Beauty Is My Name
....I am the prototype...I am the woman your father was looking for, until he settled for your mother...I am the woman of your dreams...that you can only dream will become reality...Normal activities for you are near impossible, due to your thoughts being totally posessed by me...I am an internationally pursued beauty...any man, from any walk of life longs for a mere moment's glance into my eyes...the same eyes that will lock a man's gaze so long, he forgets to breathe...a single look can captivate hearts, only to leave them in broken shame...these eyes shine with the intensity of a thousand suns...I am beauty....Beauty is my name.

"Strive to be neither optimistic nor pessimistic, but hopeful." --Dr. Cornel West

"Im sick and tired of hearing things From uptight, short-sighted, narrow-minded hypocritics All I want is the truth Just gimme some truth Ive had enough of reading things By neurotic, psychotic, pig-headed politicians All I want is the truth Just gimme some truth" --John Lennon

"Yes, what's being dubbed America's first "six-star" hotel has just opened in Miami Beach. How ritzy is it? Well, let's put it this way. J-Lo can afford to stay here, but her husband can't. At this hotel, when they ask if you'd like help with your bag, they're talking about your scrotum. But, this is America, and we can afford it, along with $2-trillion wars and tax cuts. But, there's one thing we can't afford, and that's health care for sick kids." -Bill Maher

"Anyone who makes up their mind before they hear the issue is a fu*kin' fool." --Chris Rock

"Free your mind...and the rest will follow." --En Vogue

"You think you are cold sh*t in a champagne glass, but you're just hot diarreah in a Dixie cup!" --random Adult Swim cartoon character

I enjoy writing poetry, singing, helping those in my community and hosting social events. I attend the University of Alabama (ROLL TIDE!!), at which I am persuing my undergraduate degree in Human Development & Family Studies, with a minor in Adolescent and Youth Development.
I feel as though most people don't give children the love and support they need, especially during their transition into adulthood. Adolescents are at a fragile time in their life...They have all these extra responsibilities and privilages, yet are still restricted and treated as second-class citizens in so many ways. These young adults should be given as much positive reinforcement and guideance to steer them in the right direction. The very same adolescents that make us scratch our heads in wonder (both good and bad) are the ones that will be running the country when our generation is retired. We should help as much as possible to make sure they don't screw it up for us!...There is a way to empower our youth without causing them to place their self worth into question or their confidence shatter. The enrichment program I am developing will teach these teens life skills and career planning. With the economy as unstable as it is, parents having to find another job, or even a second job leaves more and more children at home alone to their own devices, and an idle mind is the devil's workshop. Giving these young adults skills that will help them build us a stronger nation of people is vital to the longevity of this country. Send a message if you would like to become a part of a groundbreaking effort to uplift our nation's underprivilaged youth.

As far as romantic relationships (if such a phenomenon even still exists!) are concerned, I have placed that part of my life on slow motion. I have a son that will be 2 years old in March of 2009, as well as the fact that I'm still in school...I'm not going to put vain energy into a relationship until I feel like most of my life is settled...Or, until a worthy gentleman gives me reason to change my mind...Who's the qualified bachelor?? ;-)

As for my Blackplanet men interested in learning more about me, or perhaps attempting to prove that you are worthy of such a lovely lady...do the following, and you MAY succeed:
1. Write a note...AFTER READING MY ENTIRE PROFILE & BLOGS! :-)
2. Be Patient! (I don't get on BP everyday.)
3. Have an interesting profile, WITH A PICTURE!! :-)
4. Your screen name says a lot about who you are, AND who you're trying to attract...take that into consideration if you see that I'm not responding to you.
5. If you see me online, please don't IM me...SEND A NOTE!
