Circa 1980 in Central Islip, New York, there were two kids in the
same crew, The Awesome Force. The older of the two was the lead M.C
known as "Jazzy "A" the younger one,"Outstanding", was the record
boy. Together, they dreamt of one day being like the people on the
covers of rap magazines. Unfortunately, sometimes life deals you
cards that take your focus away from your dreams, and circumstances
get so complicated that when you finally realize you had dreams to
pursue many years have passed leading one to believe your dreams
are no longer within your reach. This was the case with the two
kids, Andre Davis and Ron Clark. Through all that life has handed
these men, the dream stayed alive within Ron. While living in
California he had started a record label D.Y.D.S (Do it Your Damn
Self Records) with Matt Heist of the Presidentz and released the
underground joint called the "Arrival", which became a regional
classic. Although the project was a local success, the company
eventually folded due to lack of business experience. Through his
persistence, Ron along with his son started Blakk Starr
Entertainment. Armed with more business experience the venture was
just the beginning of what you have today. Realizing that this new
effort was much more than the previous, Ron called the one person
he knew had the business acumen needed to take the label to the
next level. As a senior Vice-President of a well-established
investment company, Ron contacted his childhood friend, Andre
"Jazzy A" Davis. Hence, the birth of Starr Media Group (SMG) and
since then, Andre's shrewd business savvy has opened doors and
provided opportunities that will be documented in hip-hop folk lore
in the days to come. If there were ever a surgical tag team "This
is dem boyz" and there has never been a better mesh of timberlands
and gators. Andre brings a certain type of concentration to the
overall company that separates the boys from the men, the wheat
from the shaft, and soon to come the labels from their checks.
Having been an MC himself, Andre contributes a keen ear along with
masterful ideas which I am sure will please your ear. So welcome to
the world of Starr Media Group (SMG), ground zero for the next big
bang in the game of music, movies, and multi-media as a whole.
