This is a poem written by a young man locked up in a DYS facility
where I work. Its called WELCOME TO MY BLOCK
WELCOME TO MY BLOCK
Welcome to my block
My block is where demons walk and angels hide.
My block is where feens have no where to go but up in their
high.
My block is where we see light as often as a blind man does, and
see darkness as if its nighttime everyday.
My block is where kids get cut by broken glass of their drunk
parents bottles.
My block is where parents bury their kids and kids don't make it to
18.
My block is where bullets have no name but dead bodies.
My block is where my best friend is my gun and my enemy is a
bullet.
My block is where tomorrow may never come so we always live in the
present.
My block is where I was born and raised, this is where i'll live
and die.
WELCOME TO MY BLOCK.
