I'm just jumping on BlackPlanet.com for the first time in years....I have been on MySpace a lot (that's where it all started) and I was given the nickname "Uncle Real Talk" because of some of the issues I would blog about. . . . Real issues. Anyway...from that name of "Uncle Real Talk" and my name being "The Funkadelic Relic" most of my friends called me "Unk", short for "Uncle". Then one of my friends shortened it to "Unk Funk"...and thus the legend began.

I have always been a HUGE fan of Parliament-Funkadelic and around the time I discovered them was when I REALLY got into music. What James Brown, Parliament-Funkadelic & Bootsy Collins were doing in the 70's paved the way for Hip Hop as we know it today (in the 80's it seemed like every other Hip Hop [or rap] song had a JB or P-Funk sample in it). Just look at the artwork for their album, "Standing On The Verge" done by the brilliant artist and illustrator, Pedro Bell...that's GRAFFITI! Think about it....the hieroglyphics in the tombs of Egypt are basically the same thing...REAL TALK!

Well enough about my passion (Hip Hop Kulture and music). . .just stay tuned. . . and keep checking my page because I am curious about people in general and love to get to know new friends and what my friends are doing and thinking about so hit me up!

Most of you who have known me for a while realize that I am a big sports nut. I get all worked up whenever the NFL, NBA or MLB playoffs jump, not to mention major boxing events.
