Valerie Washington has a unique writing style, as well as content, to attract curious new readers. Her book, Soul Passion, is not a long read but very engaging and descriptive to draw readers into numerous readings to find new meaning. Valerie Washington Author of Soul Passion is a Dance Specialist, Visual Artist, Poet, Freelance Writer and a Motivational Speaker. The name Valerie means Strength which is befitting of my nature and character. I have traveled down a long road in hopes of fulfilling my life's journey. I have since actualized my goals, and I know exactly what I want out of life. Forever within my Soul is a literary program I have developed as a single mother raising two beautiful boys; I talk and write about issues of my pain, my struggles, and my sacrifices I've had to make. I am absolutely driven to follow my aspirations to be an inspiration to them. I'm the Owner of Valerie Washington's Dance School, in which I formally trained aspiring dancers. For the past 9 years, I have had the opportunity to serve my community as a Community Neighborhood President. It was my mission as the Civic representatives Leader to see that our Community needs were being met and that our Neighborhood was a comfortable and prosperous environment. I also have participated in various Grant Writing Seminars Training sessions and have written a number of Grants throughout my tenure to revitalize our community. Since then, I have developed a Book Club for young men called Literature Society. Additionally, I've had the opportunity to become a Freelance Writer for a local newspaper in which I wrote an excerpt celebrating father's on Father's Day. What a great opportunity to appreciate and honor life. My personal background, I believe, is unique. My birthplace of Thailand has blessed me with beautiful memories of an extraordinary land. As a youth, my family and I moved to the United States. My Father was a Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force for 20 years. As far back as I can remember; life has been an adventure. From traveling to far away lands to facing some of life's most daunting challenges, I have survived. There were times I wanted to give up. I felt like my life was worthless; everything I did seemed to fail. I lost hope in myself. I research my life like phrases in an essay. Love weakens me back into the Gates of Darkness. I have managed to find my inner strength to overcome my trials. My loving children and my dignity have kept me strong through my laughter and my tears; I am grateful. Whats next for me? Well, I desire to travel back to my homeland to help with the provision of aid to the displaced children of Thailand. I also wish to take my own children to Italy for tea to surround myself with the sounds of the Ocean. My gift to the world is my voice. As a writer, through stories and poems, I hope to bring insight and perspective to the readers, as well as, stimulate their minds eye. I believe that poetry and literature are the expressions of the heart that have long been sources of inspiration that possess the power to fuel the imagination.
