Peace to you...welcome to my home,
I wake every morning...and as I put on my scarf, I thank the lord above for protecting, giving me another day, and allowing me to see through the facade of what many believe is beauty. wearing skimpy clothings, so when I bend over any one can see my %#&@$! is what I fear for true beauty is that which is concealed...I choose to cover myself to protect myself from a men-satisfying world. Music videos, commericials, movies, magizines, newspapers, even cartoons & billboards...they All advertise with a barely dressed lady: the sex object..reminds me of the reason Barbie was first designed (to satisfy soldiers who were away at war during WWII). I think this poem says what I feel best: "You look at me and call me oppressed, Simply because of the way I'm dressed, You know me not for what's inside, You judge the clothing I wear with pride, My body's not for your eyes to hold, You must speak to my mind, not my feminine mold, I'm an individual, I'm no mans slave, It's Allahs pleasure that I only crave, I have a voice so I will be heard, For in my heart I carry His word, " O ye women, wrap close your cloak, So you won't be bothered by ignorant folk", Man doesn't tell me to dress this way, It's a Law from God that I obey, Oppressed is something I'm truly NOT, For liberation is what I've got, It was given to me many years ago, With the right to prosper, the right to grow, I can climb moutains or cross the seas, Expand my mind in all degrees, For God Himself gave us LIB-ER-TY, When He sent Islam, To You and Me! " -unknown- ------------------------------ ------------------------------ -------------------- "If violence is wrong in America, violence is wrong abroad. If it is wrong to be violent defending black women and black children and black babies and black men, then it is wrong for America to draft us, and make us violent abroad in defense of her. And if it is right for America to draft us, and teach us how to be violent in defense of her, then it is right for you and me to do whatever is necessary to defend our own people right here in this country." Malcolm X Reminder for all: the MEDIA IS YOUR ENEMY. The news won't broadcast the truth, the struggle of the people. Its only about that bull%#&@$! so its on you to seek the truth and find answers to the unanswered. Do you remember how they only showed black folks "looting" in New Orleans after Katrina yet omitted to show the hunger, death, and destruction? As I wake up everyday, I become more wary of the black state of mind in the US. We are each other's downfall. We don't help each other...matter of fact, if we make it out of poverty, than we forget every one behind us. Its sad but reality. Alot of black people, including the beloved musicians & entertainers forget where they came from, the sacrifices that others have made for them, and the lack of resources for African American. Its 2007, yet we have little children in the ghettos dying of asthma attacks, malnutrition, and drive-bys. When my family first moved to the states, we expected utopia...b/c of the image the US sends abroad, we imagined a country of safety and security. Instead, I have learned that even though africans are not slaves to the white man any more, they are still in MENTAL PRISON. Can you believe that 80% of our beautiful black brothas are in prison? and what happens when they get out....instead of helping them succed and stay out of the system, we stigmatize them and let the revolving door do its job. We are so quick to judge others for what they don't do for the black community, but ask yourself, what are YOU doing for blacks? We need to collectively unite...how do you think Malcolm X, MLK, Huey, blackpanthers, or any other great leader got anything accomplish. They sure enough didn't get it done alone. Its time we as people stand up for each other and respect our past, live the present, and better the future. Think for yourself...your not "cool" if you got shot 9 times...you are just stupid b/c you neglect your personal safety. Your not "hot" b/c you have the latest gear and can't pay your rent and feed your family...your just ignorant and selfish. I strongly believe that those who respect themself, their family, their religion, and their culture are the ones who are TRUE in what they say and do. Every action is judged by intention and every spoken word is judged by your action. I am very strong minded about certain issues...Its my obligation as a human being to speak out about inequality and injustice. Its my obligation to protest, write, and stand up against the wrong-doings of those we "elect"...if you don't like what I have to say, just pass on by. If you would like to furhter discuss how to strengthen the black community, holla at your girl. Every think I have said correctly on this page is with the guidance and help of Allah, any incorrect thing I have on this page is of my own ignorance and mistake. I pray that Allah continue to lead me in the straight path and grant me with the strength, clear judment, free mind, and glowing heart. AMEEN! "Time is on the side of the oppressed today, it's against the oppressor. Truth is on the side of the oppressed today, it's against the oppressor. You don't need anything else. " -Malcolm X "You can't separate peace from freedom because no one can be at peace unless he has his freedom." -Malcom X "The World is three days; as for yesterday, it has vanished, along with all that was in it. As for tomorrow, you may never see it. As for today, it is yours, so work in it." -Hasan Al-Basri "If you knew what I know, you would go out to the jungle, weeping and crying and leave your property unguarded. But your hearts are heedless of the requirements of the hereafter and you have, before you, worldly hopes and aspirations. That is why the world has become your master and all your activities are directed towards it; you have reduced yourself to a condition of stark ignorance." -Abu Darda (radiAllahu anhu) "I am invisible, understand, simply because people refuse to see me.
