My Personality Type:

ISTJ (Introversion, Sensing, Thinking, Judgment)

I am quiet, serious, and earn success by thoroughness and dependability. I am practical, matter-of-fact, realistic, and responsible. I decide logically what should be done and work toward it steadily, regardless of distractions. I take pleasure in making everything orderly and organized - my work, my home, and my life. I value traditions and loyalty.

Famous people with my same ISTJ personality include: George Washington, Harry Truman, Queen Elizabeth II, investor Warren Buffet, and boxer Evander Holyfield.

My hometown is Baton Rouge, but I live in Georgia. I just don't want anyone in my area searching for me because I'm only here for the forum discussions.

Speaking of forum discussions, I participate because I enjoy exchanging ideas. I'm not there to actually change anyone else's opinions, but I will defend mine until the end (or until some concrete evidence to the contrary is presented)! It's what I do. I thought that debates were supposed to be about "point vs. counterpoint", not "point, and if you don't agree with it I will make baseless assumptions about every other aspect of your life and background, because this one little thing we're discussing gives me insight into your very soul." LOL

An Ad Hominem is a general category of fallacies in which a claim or argument is rejected on the basis of some irrelevant fact about the author of or the person presenting the claim or argument.  Typically, this fallacy involves two steps. First, an attack against the character of person making the claim, her circumstances, or her actions is made (or the character, circumstances, or actions of the person reporting the claim). Second, this attack is taken to be evidence against the claim or argument the person in question is making (or presenting). This type of "argument" has the following form:

  1. Person A makes claim X.
  2. Person B makes an attack on person A.
  3. Therefore A's claim is false.

The reason why an Ad Hominem (of any kind) is a fallacy is that the character, circumstances, or actions of a person do not (in most cases) have a bearing on the truth or falsity of the claim being made (or the quality of the argument being made).

Think about it.

And if that explanation doesn't sway you, consider the fact that I don't give a fcuk about most people on this site, so whatever negativity you may have to throw my way will be a waste of time on your part as I simply won't care.  :-)
