It is rare that I put someone else`s poem on my page since I am a writer however, I feel that in this day and age the following words need to be read:

this is what we should do: love the earth and sun and the animals, despise riches, give food to everyone who ask, stand up for the stupid and crazy, devote your income and labor to others, hate tyrants, argue not concerning god, have patience and indulgence towards people, take off your hat to nothing known or unknown or to any man or number of men, go freely with powerful uneducated persons and with the young and with the mothers of families, read these leaves in the open air every season of every year of your life, re-examine all that you have been told at school or any church or in any book, dismiss whatever insults you own soul and your very flesh shall be a great poem

BLACK FOLKS... we have some house keeping to do. We have problems within our own race. Within our own communities.Within our families. I don`t have to spell them out. You know them. We need to clean up. How can we ever demand equality and respect from others if we are not true to our selves? Are you ready sweep, throw out, dust and polish? I got my plastic gloves on and my smock on. Within my life, I take care of my son, my 3 sisters and my business. I vote. I pray. I love. I write. I tell myself the truth. Even, about the ugly things. I dance. I sing. I hope. I believe. I listen. I talk. I wait. Walk with me.
