Does anybody remember when everyone's number was in the white pages - What happened? I firmly believe that things are not necessarily worse, just amplified due to modern-day population explosions and technological media advances that alert us of all newsworthy events. With an increase in population (which is never properly factored into most statistics) comes an increase in crime, garbage, depletion of resources (natural & artificial), overcrowding, etc. With current media advances, things that happen on the other side of the country and/or continent that use to receive a footnote in some local paper can now make front page news. Let it marinate.
